Dieses beeindruckende Wahrzeichen wurde 1184 erbaut und diente über 800 Jahre lang als Krankenhaus! Heute ist es ein 5-Sterne-Hotel und ein Einkaufszentrum. In den Mauern verbergen sich zahlreiche Geschichten und Legenden.
La Croix-Rousse und seine Hänge gehören zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. La Croix-Rousse ist das ehemalige Arbeiterviertel von Lyon, in dem die Canuts (die Lyoner Seidenarbeiter) lebten.
Dieses 1995 fertiggestellte Fresko stellt 2000 Jahre Geschichte dar und zeigt 25 historische und 6 zeitgenössische Persönlichkeiten aus Lyon. Zu den bemerkenswertesten Darstellungen zählen die Brüder Lumière, Antoine de St-Exupéry und der Kleine Prinz sowie Paul Bocuse.
Auf dem schönsten Platz in ganz Lyon befinden sich das Rathaus, das Museum der Schönen Künste und der atemberaubende Bartholdi-Brunnen. Er ist der perfekte Ort, um Fotos zu machen, interessante Geschichte und Legenden zu erfahren und auch eine Pause einzulegen und etwas zu trinken.
Der Justizpalast und seine Passerelle sind zwei ikonische Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Von der Passerelle aus haben Besucher einen weiten Blick entlang der Soane im Herzen der Stadt.
Diese Kathedrale im Herzen der Altstadt ist ein beeindruckendes Bauwerk. Sie wurde ab 1175 über drei Jahrhunderte erbaut und ist eine Mischung aus gotischem und romanischem Stil. Sie verfügt über eine astronomische Uhr aus dem 16. Jahrhundert.
Als größter Fußgängerplatz Europas ist der Place Bellecour von neuer und alter Geschichte umgeben. Hier können Sie die kürzlich renovierte Statue von König Ludwig XIV., das Institut von Paul Bocuse und ein Denkmal für Antoine de St-Exupéry sehen.
Schließlich beenden wir unsere Reise an der Confluence. Die Einzigartigkeit der Geografie Lyons zeigt sich an den beiden Wasserstraßen, zwischen denen das Herz der Stadt liegt. Am Zusammenfluss werden die beiden Gewässer zu einem. Dies bietet auch einen perfekten Blick auf die dekonstruktivistische Architektur des Viertels und das dort untergebrachte Museum.

I can't say enough good things about Frank, the owner of Holland Bike Tours. It was pouring rain with thunder and lightning the day of our tour and we asked to reschedule the next day in the morning. Lyon is a great city to explore by bike with lots of bike paths and we really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Frank, was friendly and informative about the history of Lyon. The bikes were all new Dutch style e-bikes, which were very comfortable and easy to operate. My wife was a bit nervous at first having never ridden an e-bike, but with Frank’s reassurance and care she soon got the hang of it.

We didn’t go on the bike tour but rented the high quality Holland brand. So many cities have the standard rental bikes that are not good touring bikes but the Holland made the ride more enjoyable. We hired the standard gazelle and the e-bike. I must say how impressed we were with Frank who was very knowledgeable and flexible for our needs. He made sure we were outfitted with helmets and gave us all the information for touring Lyon, including his Kamoot tour route. I will look forward to another ride with Hollland!

Very warm welcome by Frank and the two guides, all bikes in prefect condition and all well explained by Frank, very flexible and supportive! He even organised the sunshine for our tour, at arrival it was raining. A great experience to better discover Lyon by bike, this special and beautiful city has a lot to offer. We were a small group and our guide was very cool. Lyon is very bike friendly (some occasional cobblestone streets) and it was a very nice experience to be able to go from one place to another so conveniently!
