Das Heiligtum von Fátima ist schlechthin ein Ort christlicher Pilgerfahrt und katholischer Hingabe, das die Erinnerung an die Ereignisse bewahrt, die zu seiner Gründung geführt haben, nämlich die Erscheinungen Unserer Lieben Frau von Fatima bei den drei Hirten - Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco und Jacinta Marto - im Jahr 1917. Auf dieser Tour besuchen wir den Ort Aljustrel, die sogenannte Aldeia de Valinhos, wo die drei kleinen Hirten lebten. Im Heiligtum angekommen, besuchen wir die Basilika von Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Das Gebäude, das sich durch seinen 65 Meter hohen Turm auszeichnet, ist der Ort, an dem die Überreste der drei kleinen Hirten ruhen. Anschließend besuchen wir die Basilika der Allerheiligsten Dreifaltigkeit, die jüngste des Heiligtums, und die Capelinha das Aparições, wo Sie mit etwas Glück die Gelegenheit haben, an einer Messe teilzunehmen. Nach dem Besuch kehren wir zu Ihrem Hotel in Coimbra zurück.

My main purpose of coming to Portugal was to come to Fatima. Our driver/ tour guide Xavier was excellent. He explained the history and significance of Fatima to us.

We had a wonderful trip today. We learned a lot about the country as well as Fátima. There were only 2 of us on the tour so it felt like we had a private tour.

The architecture is beautiful and the space completely preserved. Entry is free! The place is huge so I recommend you arrive early and take 3 hours to enjoy Fatima. Enjoy and visit the wax museum and the interactive museum that is located close to the sanctuary!

Needless to add details about this unique place in the world. I'll write some information that can be useful: behind the Sanctuary there is a large free car park. always behind are available bathrooms also these free. in the perimeter of the sanctuary I did not find places to buy candles, take care to buy them in the country of Fatima. In the Sanctuary you can not light but column to the left of the same where there is a large brazier. The rest is just prayer, faith and for those who are not believers observation of a unique place.

Tour guide arrived on time was extremely informative and helpful. Unfortunately the weather was not the best, it was Pouring Rain. But we still were able to accomplish our goals to the sanctuary, light our candles and buy our souvenirs. Thank You Xavier for your help and conversation. Hope to see you again.
