5 starts is not enough! This is a wonderful experience. The hostess showed us how to make seven dishes, ones typical of Japanese home cooking. She is a wonderful and charming instructor and took excellent care of us. Plus, the dishes we learn about and got to eat were absolutely delicious. Very strongly recommend!

Maya is the BEST! Maya met us at the bus stop, drove us to her home and demonstrated and taught us the art of creating a beautiful and delicious bento box lunch. Charming, patient teacher, Maya conveyed her deep appreciation of and artistry in Japanese cooking. She then treated us to a picnic with matcha served and cherry trees in full blossom. A day we will treasure!

This was a really good experience, Maya was a wonderful host and we had a good time. Visiting a Japanese home in the beautiful countryside, easily accessible from Okayama station was really a treat for the whole family. The food was excellent and the explanations and demonstrations alongside easy to understand. We can sincerely recommend this course for anybody who wants a great Japanese cultural experience.

We booked this class to learn more about Japanese cooking and had a great time! It's about a 45 minute bus ride from the Okayama Station, but the area is beautiful and well worth the trip! The chef demonstrated how to make 5 Bento Box dishes, and was so patient and knowledgeable when we peppered her with questions! Like a true home cook, she didn't really use recipes but explained all of the ingredients and steps. We will definitely be making some of these dishes when we get home! Great Japanese hospitality and food! Would highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for joining our cooking class! I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed the experience and the peaceful countryside setting. It was a pleasure to cook with you and answer all your great questions. I’m happy to know you’ll be trying some of the dishes at home. You’re always welcome back if you’re ever in Okayama again. I hope you had many more wonderful experiences during your time in Japan!
My family and I had an amazing time at this class! The chef demonstrated how to make traditional Japanese dishes in her home kitchen. Then we got to help out with one dish at the end of the demonstration. The food was absolutely delicious. She was an extremely talented chef, and we felt very welcome in her home. The whole demonstration was in English (we don't speak Japanese). I should also say that her home was located in an absolutely beautiful rural suburb of Okayama. There is a bus that will get you most of the way there, and the transit system is easy to navigate. At the end, we had to rush off to our next activity, and she kindly offered to drive us to the bus stop. She even waited around to make sure we boarded the bus alright. I strongly recommend this experience. We had a great time!

Also, thank you so much for the thoughtful souvenirs—the nuts, chocolate, and the bags! That was such a kind surprise, and I truly appreciated it. I’m also glad you found the countryside setting beautiful and the transportation manageable. It was no trouble at all to drive you to the bus stop—I just wanted to make sure you got to your next activity safely! Thank you again for coming, and for your kind recommendation. I hope the rest of your time in Japan was filled with even more great memories!
