Der Grand Palace ist ein Gebäudekomplex im Herzen von Bangkok, Thailand. Der Palast ist seit 1782 die offizielle Residenz der Könige von Siam. Der König, sein Hofstaat und seine königliche Regierung befanden sich bis 1925 auf dem Palastgelände.
Wat Phra Kaew, im Englischen allgemein als Tempel des Smaragd-Buddha und offiziell als Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram bekannt, gilt als der heiligste buddhistische Tempel in Thailand. Der im Tempel untergebrachte Smaragd-Buddha ist ein starkes religiös-politisches Symbol und das Palladium Thailands
Der Ta Tian Markt ist ein immenser Marktplatz am Flussufer gegenüber den weißen Wänden von Wat Pho. Der Markt selbst wird von den meisten Besuchern leicht übersehen, die oft eine Pause in einem der charmanten kleinen Cafés unter den Bögen der chinesisch-portugiesischen Fassade einlegen, und nicht viele erkennen tatsächlich den kleinen Eingang mitten in diesem U-förmigen Stil des Kulturerbes Gebäude. Diese diskrete Tür öffnet sich zu einem kurzen Tunnel und dahinter würde nur der neugierige Reisende einen riesigen und geschäftigen Markt entdecken, der unter einer sehr hohen Decke geschützt ist. Der Ort ist eher ein einfaches Warenhaus als ein Markt, auf dem eine riesige Auswahl an getrockneten Meeresprodukten in großen Säcken angeboten wird. Außerdem werden im Großhandel Kochzutaten und alle Arten von frischen Produkten angeboten, von bekannten Gemüsesorten bis hin zu völlig fremd aussehenden Zutaten.

- Es gibt strikte Kleiderordnung für den Besuch des Grand Palace, da der Tempel des Smaragd-Buddhas Thailands heiligste Stätte ist. Männer müssen lange Hosen und Hemden mit Ärmeln tragen - keine ärmellosen Oberteile. Wenn Sie Sandalen oder Flip-Flops tragen, müssen Sie Socken tragen.

This is the way to see the Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha. The crowds at those locations are no joke, so a knowledgeable guide and private vehicle allow for maximum flexibility and access. We were picked up from our hotel in a private car with driver and guide. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared information about the city of Bangkok, including restaurant recommendations and general information about the history of the city. He helped us navigate the crowded palace and explained the history of every sight. He was not able to accompany us into the reclining Buddha sanctuary, but directed us and met us outside when we were finished. At the end, we were driven back to our hotel for a comfortable, hassle-free end to a big day.

Eddie and his driver were very kind and helped us a lot because we needed to get back quickly to go to airport after the tour.
