Beschreibung

EBC May 2026!

My trek to Everest Base Camp was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Lal. From the very beginning, he was professional, knowledgeable, and he genuinely cared about everyone in my little group. The trek itself was absolutely hard at times, but Lal always made sure we were moving at the right pace, staying safe, and enjoying ourselves. What stood out most was his positive attitude, laugh, and encouragement, especially on the tougher days when the altitude started to kick in. Furthermore, Lal was always attentive to everyone's needs and went above and beyond to make sure the trip ran smoothly. Reaching Everest Base Camp was an incredible achievement, and having a guide like Lal made it even more special. I would highly recommend him to anyone planning this trek. Thank you, Lal and Himalayan Leisure for helping make this trip possible:)

A masterclass in safety and leadership—the only crew you want on Everest.

I recently completed the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar trek with my adult son and daughter, booked through Himalayan Leisure Inc. Having trekked Mt. Mitchell unguided in North Carolina and summited Mt. Kilimanjaro with a guide, I know what to look for on a mountain and what makes a truly exceptional crew. If you’re looking into the EBC trek, you already know it’s tough. But what you might not realize is how quickly conditions—and your own body—can turn against you at altitude. When they do, this is the exact crew you want in your corner. Our guide, Lal Bahadur Gurung, was a phenomenal presence. He is friendly, warm, and acting as both a guide and a teacher, he shared deep knowledge about Nepal and its history. But above all, Lal is a master tactician. Trekking up there requires constant adjustment, and he managed our pacing every single step of the way, knowing exactly when to lead from the front to set the tempo, and when to sweep from behind to keep our spirits up. The true test of a guide isn't how they perform when everyone feels great; it's how they react when things go sideways. After a brutal "Triple Push" day (Gorakshep to EBC to Kalapatthar), we hit an absolute physical wall near Lobuche. A combination of altitude and sheer exhaustion finally caught up with my daughter and me, rapidly depleting our reserves. This is where Lal’s experience saved the trip. He ran the math on our declining pace, realized we were still a grueling 10 hours out from Pangboche, and made the executive call to secure horses for my daughter and me. Crucially, he accurately assessed that my son was still holding his pace and could safely continue on foot. It was a masterclass in risk management. Lal didn't hesitate or gamble with our safety; he took immediate, decisive action based on what each of us needed in that exact moment. I also have to give massive credit to our porters, Sangey and Suman. Their relentless work ethic and raw physical strength were awe-inspiring. But their dedication went far beyond carrying gear. When my daughter and I were put on horses for that critical descent, Sangey and Suman didn't just hike ahead; they walked right alongside our horses the entire way down, personally guarding us on the steep, rocky terrain. The Himalayas are beautiful but deeply unpredictable. When you reach your physical limits, Himalayan Leisure Inc., Lal Bahadur Gurung, Sangey, and Suman are the team you want making the calls. They didn’t just guide us; they brought us home safely. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Can't Recommend the EBC Trek Enough!

In May 2026, my family and I trekked to EBC with Himalayan Leisure, and it was a truly special experience. While the scenery was second to none, what really made the trip was our guide, Lal, and our two porters, Sangey and Suman. Lal was a legend. He was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was seamless from start to finish. He helped ensure we had the right gear before the trek, guided us through the domestic terminal in Kathmandu, and consistently made sure we were well looked after every step of the way. Our porters were fantastic as well. They didn't just carry our belongings to EBC and back. They also helped with meals, getting us settled into teahouses, and countless other details along the way. When the time comes, they'll make excellent guides themselves. All told, the experience was amazing, and it was a breeze working with Himalayan Leisure to put together this bucket-list trip. If you have the opportunity to trek with Lal and the team, whether to EBC or on one of their other adventures, you won't be disappointed.

Incredible experience!

We had an incredible, surreal and a humbling experience trekking EBC, Chola Pass and Gokyori and it still feels like a dream, nothing like i have ever seen before! We were blessed with beautiful weather throughout offering clear blue skies towering multiple 8000+m peaks including the Everest! Unforgettable! Our experience with Himalayan leisure was great, starting from Upendra who helped answer all our question over multiple phone calls, made excellent suggestions and arrangements for the trek including the hotel in Katmandu. Our guide Hari and the porters made the entire experience very memorable and smooth with their flexibility and encouragement as our needs changed. Hari is not just a fun person but also an amazing photographer who helped capture several candid pictures for all of us! Highly recommend this group!

Magical Himalayas

We had an incredible experience trekking to Everest Base Camp, crossing Cho La Pass, and visiting the Gokyo Lakes with Himalaya Leisure from April 16 to May 1, 2026. Three of us completed this unforgettable 14-day journey covering over 90 miles, with more than 25,000 feet of elevation gain across 11 destinations. Every moment of the trip was simply amazing. The mountains have a way of humbling you and bringing a deep sense of peace that’s hard to describe until you experience it yourself. The overall arrangements were excellent, with only 1–2 teahouses falling slightly short of expectations—which is understandable given the remote nature of the region. What truly made the journey seamless and enjoyable was our guide, Hari Bhatta, along with the porters. Their support, professionalism, and constant encouragement never wavered throughout the trek. I would absolutely recommend Himalaya Leisure and Hari and would gladly do another trek with them again. A truly life-changing adventure! Vara

Amazing EBC trek with Lok

Had an amazing time on our Everest Base Camp trek! Our guide, Lok, took care of every detail and made sure we had everything we needed. He knew the route like the back of his hand and had us on the perfect pace for the entire trek. We had debated about hiring a guide as we are experienced backpackers and thought it might not be necessary. But after experiencing the trek with a guide, I 100% recommend this is the way to go. Amazing adventure of a lifetime!

10/10 experience from start to finish!

In short, nothing could top this. From Upendra at Himalayan Leisure being so helpful beforehand to our guide, Khila, giving us 12 unforgettable days. Our guide was Khila – truly the best guide we have ever had. More on this below. Himalayan Leisure were also extremely helpful and flexible when I needed to change my dates, which made everything much easier from the start. Upendra and Birendra made sure we were prepared fully and answered any questions we had. Would highly recommend organising your trip with them. Khila, where do I start: Khila always puts his guests first, he is empathetic and respectful as he showed on the days we were feeling unwell. Thanks to Khila we could continue on our trek to the very end! Nothing is too much for Khila, he seems to know everyone on the way and is friends with many guides, porters and accommodation owners/staff. He is entertaining, teaching us some Nepali and Kirat (his Caste) phrases, showing us every mountain (and height), every animal, and playing cards each evening. The 12 days felt like 3 it was so enjoyable! His many years experience as a porter and guide give him deep trail knowledge and many local connections. His English is also excellent which made the trip so easy to navigate, he even knows some Irish now too!! Have to mention our brilliant porter, Arun too. Couldn’t have done it without his hard work and lovely personality. If you want your trek to be smooth, meaningful, and unforgettable I highly recommend Khila and the team at Himalayan Leisure! Thank you Khila, Arun and team.
