Kanoni, die Kirche von Panagia Vlacherna und die Mäuseinsel auf Korfu: Die Lage von Kanoni mit der darunter liegenden Kirche von Panagia Vlacherna und die Mäuseinsel (Pontikonissi) sind die berühmtesten und fotografiertesten Orte von Korfu. Kanoni ist eigentlich ein Viertel von Korfu-Stadt, nur ein paar Kilometer vom Stadtzentrum entfernt. Es hat seinen Namen von einer alten Kanone, die oben auf dem Hügel steht. Dieser Hügel ist üppig grün und hat viele luxuriöse Hotels und örtliche Residenzen.
Paleokastritsa liegt an der Westküste von Korfu, die eine überwältigend schöne Landschaft mit rauer Küste und viel Vegetation bietet. Von Palaiokastritsa aus können wir ein Boot nehmen, um die zentrale Westküste zu erkunden, die voller Felsformationen und kleiner Höhlen ist. Aufgrund der geringen Größe des Bootes können wir in die Höhlen hineinfahren. Eine davon ist die Nafsika-Höhle, die nach Prinzessin Nafsika benannt wurde, die Odysseus gerettet haben soll. Ein unglaubliches Erlebnis von transparentem türkisfarbenem Wasser erwartet Sie. Oben auf dem Hügel von Palaiokastritsa befindet sich auch das Kloster Panagia Theotokos mit einer fabelhaften Aussicht und einem kleinen Museum innerhalb seiner Mauern.
Entspannen Sie sich danach in der Privatsphäre und dem Komfort Ihres Minibusses. Unser Fahrer fährt Sie in die Altstadt von Korfu, wo Sie die alte Festung von Korfu besuchen, in den Geschäften der Stadt Korfu im venezianischen Stil einkaufen, im berühmten Liston einen Kaffee trinken und den Segen des Schutzpatrons erhalten können von Korfu beim Besuch der zentralen Kirche Saint Spyridon. Angelos was fantastic. He drove us from the port to the monestary for photos, before the crowds and possible parking issues. Showed us the peacocks, then drove us to Paleokastritsa Beach, and helped us get best price tickets (currently 15 euros each) for the 45 minute wooden boat cave tour + blue eye. We loved it! He met us after and showed us where to snorkel...one bay with two spots, right across the street (also listed as the best ones online, per my research). The fish are not brightly colored, but we saw a bright red sea star. The cold water is ultra clear and beyond beautiful; you can easily see the bottom. As a bonus, Angelos took us to Mouse Island, so we could go inside the tiny church nearby (where James Bond, For Your Eyes Only was filmed). The airport is super close, so the planes go right over you when they land. He then dropped us off at Corfu Town so we could walk around, shop, and get gelato. And we walked back to the ship. It was a GREAT day, thanks to wonderful Angelos!! We highly recommend this tour!! We learned a lot from Angelos, as we drove, and he pointed out spots too. And, don't worry, you can customize the day however you'd like. Also the prior communication was great, so we didn't worry at all, and felt totally relaxed as we enjoyed beautiful Corfu. These guys were fantastic! We had a group of four and booked last minute, but everything went smoothly. Communication was excellent, and our driver, Constantine, was amazing—he’s a lifelong Corfu local and took us to stunning spots only the locals know about. His English was very good, and the private van was spacious, easily accommodating up to 12 people.
