Wir werden die besten Sehenswürdigkeiten von San Salvador entdecken, darunter den Parque Cuscatlán, einen Universitätscampus, besuchen Sie die Basilika von el Sagrado Corazón, kommen Sie in die verschiedenen Plätze, lernen Sie Monseñor Romero in der Metropolitan Cathedral kennen und sehen Sie die neue Bibliothek. Wir werden sehen, wie die neue salvadorianische Kultur das Interesse an Kunst, Sport, Orchester, Musik usw. weckt. Dies ist der Anfang von allem, als Bukele 2017 begann und San Salvador zu einem schöneren Ort für einen Besuch machte. Montags ist dieser Park geschlossen, deshalb treffen wir uns am Eingang des Parks, der sich in Alameda Franklin D. Roosevelt befindet.
Wir passieren das Krankenhausviertel und stoßen dann auf einen Universitätscampus, bevor wir uns mit der Geschichte unseres Bürgerkriegs befassen und zur Basilika Sagrado Corazon de Jesus gelangen.
Wir werden sehen, wo die Straßenhändler früher ihren Platz hatten und welche jüngsten Veränderungen in den Straßen des historischen Zentrums vorgenommen wurden. Dann sind wir bereit, den Kilometer 0 zu erreichen. Die Straßenhändler, die früher Erpressungsgelder zahlten, haben jetzt einen sicheren Ort, an dem sie ihre Waren verkaufen können, mit Parkplätzen und sogar Imbissständen.
Wir kommen zum Gerrardo Barrios Plaza und erklären, warum er so heißt. Gleichzeitig können wir Fotos von den verschiedenen Gebäuden machen, die ihn umgeben. Wir sehen den Nationalpalast, die Metropolitankathedrale und die Nationalbibliothek.
Wir finden heraus, wann dieser Palast gebaut wurde, wer ihn gebaut hat und was hier im 20. Jahrhundert abgehalten wurde. Heute ist dies der Ort, an dem Präsident Bukele seit 2019 und im Jahr 2024 seine Vereidigungszeremonie abhält.
Wir bewundern die Kathedrale und finden heraus, wo sich die Krypta von Monseñor Romero befindet. An diesem Punkt verstehen wir, warum wir El Salvador heißen und woher unser Land diesen Namen hat. Wir erzählen auch von dem Massaker, das am 30. März 1980 stattfand.
Wir kommen zum Morazan-Platz und können die Schönheit unseres Nationalpalastes bewundern. Das Gebäude wurde im 20. Jahrhundert für den Kaffeeexport errichtet und jetzt können wir die wunderschönen Shows genießen, die dort stattfinden.
Wir gelangen zum Herzen des Centro Historico und erklären, warum wir es Kilometer 0 nennen. Natürlich hängen alle Straßen und Alleen von diesem Punkt ab. Dies ist ein schöner Ort zum Fotografieren, denn früher haben wir es wegen der gefährlichen Straßen gemieden, hierher zu kommen, und jetzt besuchen wir sie gerne.
Wir beenden die Wanderung in der schönsten Bibliothek Lateinamerikas, mit frischer Klimaanlage und einem Blick auf die verschiedenen Bücher und Spiele mit einem spektakulären Blick auf das historische Zentrum. Neben dieser Bibliothek sehen wir den neuen zentralamerikanischen Garten, der in nur einer Woche mit einem schönen Wasserbrunnen angelegt wurde. ******************* Endpunkt ist 3 Kilometer vom Startpunkt entfernt. Sie können entweder am Mercado Cuscatlán im Ausgangspunkt parken, wenn Sie ein Auto mitbringen. Oder Sie können am Estacionamiento Morazán am Endpunkt parken. ************************

Dave Mendez’s walking tour was excellent! He’s a passionate local guide who gave us the perfect lay of the land and helped us truly learn about San Salvador’s history, culture, and vibrant present. We explored landmarks, parks, the markets, and lively streets while he shared insightful stories that made everything click. A highlight was sipping refreshing horchata, creamy, cinnamon-spiced, and ideal on a warm day. The tour felt safe, engaging, and fun. Highly recommend for first-timers! 10/10. Thanks, Dave! This was a very information and fun way to see San Salvador. Dave is very knowledgeable about the country, its history, challenges. He gives a very good understanding of how the country has recovered from a dark past. And he makes you very excited about the good initiatives that will improve the lives of its citizens. The hospital area was included in that topic. I think it should be skipped. If people are interested, this should be a separate tour.
My tour guide Dave was awesome! He took us around all over San Salvador. He talked to us about the history of health, education, economy and passed by historical location as well as local shops to try some treats. He was so outgoing and such a nice guy. Definitely recommend!

Adrian was great! He was very enthusiastic.
The guide was not Dave, but someone else whose name began with a V or B (I couldn’t catch it). He spoke good English. He was nice and not creepy with three ladies. But he wasted a lot of time asking poorly thought-out questions. I’d guess that 20-30 minutes of the tour might have been spent on these efforts at Socratic guiding, asking essentially unanswerable questions that wasted time. He also gave some information with confidence that didn’t seem correct, particularly when referencing countries outside El Salvador. So I’ve had more informative tours. He also arrived 10 minutes late.

The guide’s positive energy is good. I booked the 16:30 tour thinking it will make the walking tour in hot climate easier. But we spent 2 hours till we made it to Basilica Sagrada and we just skipped it. No mention of it. There were unnecessarily long stops for snacks and beverages. If you are looking to meet other people, this is a tour but nothing else. All the rest you can visit yourself.
I am really sorry about the inconveniences, unfortunately you left before but we had the last hour to discover all the emblematic buildings. Of course we talk about the history of the country, the gangs in the past, the civil war, the current situation in the country, sorry you miss.the last hour, for architecture, the present and the future of El Salvador. That is why the tour is 3 hrs not 2.
