micheal was a great guide. my father has mobility issues and he took things nice a slow and found ways around stairs. we stopped for a beer in old town.
I thought that the tour should be 4-5 hours...but we were done in 2 1/2 hours. Was the tour guide too efficient?
Dear Cecilia The tour title is 3-4 hours. I was with you at 10:30am and you already then mentioned, that you want to be back at the hotel at 13:30 latest for your lunch. We made the tour withouth having a break, as you asked me after one hour already, when we would be back. After the second part of the tour (lower basel, minster church) you wanted to go to the hotel directly. You were not interested to visit anything inside (town hall, minster, St.Peter's church) and then the time decreases. Finally we were back at 13:20 in your hotel after 2h 50minutes, which is within the range of the product when guests are not interested in anything we tell them.
Michael met us on time at our hotel in Basel. We did a long tour with him all around Basel. He was very informative and had a fun sense of humor and was easy to understand and relate to. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you for your review and happy you enjoyed Basel with SwissTravelGuide
Sean was a great guide. Tailored our program to our group including a great dinner recommendation. The wonderful medieval buildings were very interesting and some had great stories. A bit of a walk but it is a walking tour after all.
Thank you for your review.
I recently booked a day trip with girlfriends to Basel from Strasbourg France so I can visit a small part of Switzerland and see their Christmas Markets. Our guide, Mike, met us at the train station and started our 3-4 hr tour from the train. It was great to have him greet us there. He had a sign with my name on it. We had other friends who also went to Basel for the day but did not take the city tour. The positives are we loved having a walking tour of the city as it's beautiful. Mike did a great job telling us the history. He gave us some time to shop as we requested. The negatives: I've never had a guide offer to give us local currency in exchange for Euros. I felt that was a red flag. I already researched that Basel markets would accept Euros and credit cards. He told us they would not. None of us took the exchange. We moved on and started the tour. We saw some great sites and all was good. Our tour was to end at 4 hrs. We were meeting up with our friends at the market and then had to get the train back to Strasbourg. We had to ask him kindly several times to take us back to the market where we started to meet our friends. We were already 30 min over our time. He then suggested, our friends join the tour and go for another hour. We told him no. Finally, I had to ask him several times to take us back or we have to get an uber. He said there was no ubers, or trams to take us back. We started feeling a little concerned. I had to tell him again, that we needed to meet our friends. Finally, he took us to the market. I was so stressed from this, I did not even buy one thing or see the market. I just wanted to get on the train and back to Strasbourg. It started great, but ended poorly. I believe his is very talented and knowledgeable, but did not listen to us. I would not suggest him as a guide.
Thank you for your review. You are right, they accept Euros in Switzerland, but the change is always in Swiss Francs to a bad exchange rate. Your guide just wanted to support you for a mistake, that most US travellers do - they don´t have Swiss Francs in the pocket.
Great guide (Michael) - prompt, informative, friendly and very much the gentleman. I'd suggest having the guide produce identification because we had no way of knowing it was Viatir guide other than he knew my name and guessed it was me waiting outside the hotel.
Hello It is not a Viator guide - it's our guide from SwissTravelGuide. You just booked on Viator. Thank you for your feedback. Kind regards
Sean was nothing short of amazing. Beyond knowledgeable yet able to deliver tons of history that was user friendly to two women who aren’t typically history buffs. Was deeply invested in us having the tour we wanted and clearly loves Basel.
Thank you for your review
Tour guide took time to explain everything, very knowledgeable. Was not in a rush, we were his main concern.
Thank you for your feedback, we'll forward it to our guide.
I booked my private tour for 2:00 pm and was confirmed and the night before I received a text telling me they were picking us at 9:15 am which was impossible since we arrived late the day before from a trip from the USA that’s why we booked the Tour at 2:00 pm the following day. Of course no reimbursement or opportunity to change our reservation. Very dissatisfied.
Your booking has always been for 9:15am. We do not offer a tour that starts at 2pm. If you call us at 9pm in the evening to make changes the next day - that's way too late. You booked the tour on Viator and accepted the cancellation rules. They are not done by us. So please, stay at the truth over here. You made a mistake in your booking, you called us at 9pm in the evening to tell us, that you will be too tired to have a tour the next morning at 9:15 (how can you know that 12 hours before?). When you booked the tour for 2pm, how did you know that the tour starts at 9:15? Then you still have the nerve to judge our tour, which you never even took. Deal that out with Viator - not with us as the touroperator.
Our guide, Sean, was THE BEST!! Very knowledgeable, we walked at a nice pace and saw everything important
Thank you for your feedback, we'll forward it to our guide.
