Das Interesse an islamischen Künsten hat in den letzten Jahren enorm zugenommen. Als Antwort auf dieses Bewusstsein wurde Malaysia im Dezember 1998 das größte Museum für islamische Kunst in Südostasien. Das Gebäude nimmt 30.000 qm ein. Das Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia beherbergt mehr als siebentausend Artefakte sowie eine außergewöhnliche Bibliothek islamischer Kunstbücher. Sie werden in einem klimatisierten Fahrzeug von Ihrem Hotel abgeholt und fahren durch die Stadt Kuala Lumpur. Das Islamische Kunstmuseum (IAMM) ist eines der besten Museen in Malaysia mit über 7.000 Artefakten von höchster Qualität aus der gesamten islamischen Welt. Diese Galerie zeigt schöne Beispiele islamischer Architektur von Afrika bis in den Fernen Osten. Ich mochte besonders die Modelle des Taj Mahal, ungewöhnliche Moscheendesigns in verschiedenen Ländern und das großformatige Modell der Masjid al-Haram, Mekka. Die Verwendung von natürlichen Motiven wie Pflanzen, Früchten und Wolken findet ihren Weg in die lokale Kunst wie Textilien. Beispiele für Holzschnitzerei, Metallhandwerk und Kris-Designs sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Dort, wo chinesische und islamische Einflüsse miteinander verschmolzen sind, entstehen exquisite Kunstwerke, darunter Cloisonné-Waren und kalligrafische Rollen. Gezeigt werden Kollektionen kompletter Kostüme aus der ganzen islamischen Welt sowie einige schöne Wandverkleidungen und Teppiche.
ISTANA NEGARA (NATIONALPALAST) Istana Negara oder der National Palace ist die offizielle Residenz des Königs von Malaysia. Dieses majestätische Gebäude in Jalan Duta wurde 2011 offiziell zum Nationalpalast und ersetzte den alten Palast in Jalan Istana. Der 97,65 Hektar große Palast verfügt über ein traditionelles malaiisches Design mit islamischen Kunstwerken, die von renommierten Bildhauern aus Terengganu und Kelantan entworfen wurden. Der Palast wird von 22 Kuppeln geschmückt, von denen der größte 44 Meter hoch ist.

TUGU NEGARA (NATIONALES DENKMAL) Das riesige Bronzedenkmal mit Blick auf die Gärten des KL-Sees wurde errichtet, um den Soldaten zu gedenken, die ihr Leben während der Kommunistischen Aufstände in den 1950er Jahren zur Verteidigung des Landes gaben. SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD GEBÄUDE Sultan Abdul Samad Das Gebäude wurde 1897 erbaut und gilt als das schönste Gebäude der malayischen Staaten. Es verfügt über eine imposante Veranda, anmutige hufeisenförmige Bögen, glänzende Kupferkuppeln und einen 41,2 Meter hohen Glockenturm. Das Erdgeschoss dieses Gebäudes beherbergt ein Touristeninformationszentrum.
DATARAN MERDEKA (MERDEKA-QUADRAT) Dataran Merdeka ist eines der wichtigsten Kulturerbe der Stadt. Der Union Jack wurde abgesenkt, um die Unabhängigkeit des Landes von der Kolonialherrschaft zu markieren. Daher der Name dataran Merdeka, was "Platz der Unabhängigkeit" bedeutet. Ende der Tour kehren Sie in einem klimatisierten Fahrzeug zu Ihrem Hotel zurück.

Truly a nice museum very modern and well organized. It is located in a very large building, on three floors and houses a very rich collection ranging from ancient books of the Koran to ceramics, jewelry, textiles and swords. Visiting it is also highly recommended to form an opinion on Islamic culture and art

It beautifully showcases the rich history, artistry, and intellectual achievements of the Islamic world, providing a much deeper understanding than many other institutions I’ve visited. In fact, I find it even more compelling than the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, which is an impressive museum in its own right. After exploring the museum, don’t miss the treasure trove that awaits you downstairs. The museum’s shop is truly a “cave of wonders,” filled with exquisite pieces that reflect the beauty and craftsmanship of Islamic art. Whether you’re looking for unique souvenirs, beautifully crafted textiles, or intricate jewelry, the shop offers an array of items that are as inspiring as the museum itself. If only this museum could be itinerant, allowing more people around the world to experience its treasures and the profound peace it inspires. This museum is fabulous, it avoids the political positions of current debates on Islam. Lots to learn in this extremely clean and functional museum. Lots of factual elements from the shapes of mosques to outfits and holy books (Quran)..I learned a lot
Aris was an excellent tour guide and he provided enjoyable experiences at the Islamic Arts Museum, National Monument and Palace, and Merdaka Square. He gave us many recommendations on food and other places to visit, was well versed in all things Malaysia. He was thoughtful, enjoyable to be around, engaged, answered and asked questions, took many pictures and provided us with some value adds; water bottles, took some videos and shared back the photo's. On a scale of 1 - 10, we felt it was a solid 10. Definitely recommend Aris if you need a personal guide!
