Reiseverlauf
We had an absolutely great trip. I would highly recommend this private tour. We appreciated that it was customizable so we made sure to go to where we wanted. Keita was an excellent guide. He spoke English & knew the history of all the sites. The driver Kumiko was a great driver & could speak English. They even customized the day even more after we conversed with them. They even knew a restaurant for lunch which served both chicken nanba & Miyazaki beef. We truly enjoyed our trip & would definitely use them again.
Keita and Mercedes were great tour guides and took us around to all of the different activities we wanted to see. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend their tours
Takachiho is beautiful and this tour was the highlight of our trip! Our guides Keita and Kumiko were the most thoughtful hosts and curated the perfect itinerary for our tour. When we found out that it was predicted to rain n the initial date that we booked, the team went out of their way to get us booked on another date, which we appreciated so much! They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in a beautiful and comfortable van which made it so convenient. They provided knowledge and insights to all of the places that we visited. We started off with the open air train ride which took about 30 minutes and then headed to the Takachiho Gorge. It was magical! Keita guided our walk/exploration around the gorge before our scheduled time for the boat ride. We then had a delicious lunch that they recommended based on what we like eat. We then explored Minami Aso, went to see the caldera, eat treats, and did a little shopping. They learned that we love fruits, made a phone call to find a farm that was open nearby, and took us there to pick our own grapes, and they were not only the biggest grapes that we have ever seen but also the sweetest! They truly made the experience so perfect! We highly recommend booking with them! They do tours all over Japan! Start Japan Travel. There is nothing like a private tour! They also gave us recommendations of where to eat while we were in Fukuoka. We have made lifelong friends and can’t wait to visit again!
I cannot say enough good things about Kieta and Kumiko who were our guide and driver for this tour. They customized a perfect day for us to tour the Gorge and Mt. Aso. Kieta even spent time adjusting a reservation as we were driving in order to work around a little weather that had come in. I had not been to Mt. Aso in 41 years and Keita spent time trying to find the exact spot I was standing in a previous picture. My wife and I were in Japan to meet with family I had also not seen in 41 years and they even spent time coaching me through conversational points for my family dinner the next night. BONUS! What an amazing experience start to finish, getting to interact with such friendly local tour guides makes it so much more than just a tour.
We had an awesome tour with Keita as our guide and Mercedes as our co-guide and driver! They were very amenable to a relatively last-minute change in pickup location which we appreciated as it saved us commute time in the morning. Their English is top-notch. Though the trip was pricy, we felt that we got our money's worth seeing parts of Japan that we felt most tourists don't get to see. We had fun stops along the way that were off script and well appreciated. We highly recommend the boat ride as this was a highlight on this tour. Sadly we weren't able to go up to Mount Aso due to level 2 eruption warning that was published the day of the tour, but we very much enjoyed the alternate stop of a shrine nestled in nature -- this required a bit of the hike, but it was well worth it. We highly recommend this tour and feel that you cannot go wrong with Keita and Mercedes!
I contacted several tour companies to try and find an appropriate tour in the Aso area and initially struggled for a bit, but these guys came through and I had an absolutely fantastic time. I was picked up in a spotlessly clean car by the tour guide, Mercedes, and a driver. It was a little bit of a drive from Kumamoto to Takachiho Gorge, but Mercedes kept it interesting with engaging and fun conversation throughout, and we also made a few stops to stretch our legs and take photos. After the Gorge, we went for lunch at a local and extremely popular restaurant, where we arrived just in time to get a table without an overly long wait. As expected, the food was amazing. Before going to the Nakadake crater at Mt. Aso, we stopped at a legendary cave shrine and for a sake tasting that I had requested as an addition to the tour. Unfortunately we ran into a bit of bad weather at the crater itself but I was still able to enjoy the experience and the sights were amazing. I especially want to thank Mercedes for the excellent communication before the tour, as she was extremely responsive to my requests and helped me set clear expectations. She was also kind enough to send me some recommendations for places to visit during my onward journey after the tour was concluded. I would love to go again sometime.
The whole day experience was truly made more memorable and personal because of the service and knowledge of our guide, Mercedes, and our driver Ikeda-san.
Our family had the BEST experience with this tour operator. They were courteous, knowledgeable and FUN to hang out with! Both our driver and guide had lived in the US before so they were very fluent in English and we had a lot of great conversations. We were travelling as a family of three (two adults, one child) and wanted to hit very specific spots while in Fukuoka for a few days. While they offer preplanned itineraries, they were very flexible in doing what we wanted and even offered new places that we hadn't heard about. Because of their efficient planning and driving, we were able to hit every single spot on my list and then some! They also helped reserve tickets ahead of time for us, which is a huge time saver. They were even good about keeping my child entertained while the adults were doing a tea tasting. I really can't say enough good things about this business. We had a great time and plan to go back to Fukuoka for another visit soon. Avoid the crowds in the Golden Triangle and venture out to Kyshu! There is so much to see and do!
I strongly recommend this tour! It was really perfect! From the beginning I interfaced with Mercedes to organize a car tour and for her part there was maximum scrupulousness, but also a lot of flexibility. We agreed to do two tours on consecutive days with night in Beppu. So we could do the first day Aso-Takachico and other stops in those surroundings, and the next day Beppu-Yufuin-Dazaifu. During the tour we were with guide and driver, respectively Kita and Kumiko, both very kind, professional and very prepared. During the tour they made us feel so comfortable that it felt like walking around with friends! The van was very comfortable, the places chosen were all spectacular (no online photo can really make the idea) and among the various agreed stops they also made surprise pit stops based on our personal tastes. The places where we stopped to eat on their advice were equally great. Finally, I highly recommend adding Kyushu to your Japan itinerary, bearing in mind that it is really preferable to think about guided car tours due to the fact that almost no one around spoke English, and that with public transport it would have taken forever to get around, so we would not have been able to see all these places in two days
Sincere thanks to our guides Kumiko and Keita, for this unforgettable whole day trip to Minami Aso and Takachiho.
