Auf unserer kulinarischen Tour durch Sants werden wir viele dieser alten und neuen Nachbarschaftsinstitutionen besuchen und einen Eindruck davon bekommen, wie das Leben in Barcelona war, bevor die Stadt zu dem globalen Hotspot wurde, der sie heute ist. Wir beginnen mit einem herzhaften Frühstück im neu restaurierten Mercat de Sants – der seit 1913 in Betrieb ist – und probieren das Angebot der dortigen Händler. Während wir durch das Viertel weitergehen, werden wir einige der zahlreichen Lebensmittelgeschäfte und Restaurants, sowohl alte als auch neue, besuchen und beliebte Gerichte aus Menüs probieren, die je nach Jahreszeit wechseln. Unterwegs machen wir Halt in Bodegas und Bars der alten Schule, um zwischen den Weinfässern etwas Vermut mit Tapas zu genießen, und in kleinen Bäckereien und Schokoladenläden für handgemachte Süßigkeiten.
Wir werden Sants jedoch nicht verlassen, ohne eines der einzigartigsten sozialen und kulturellen Projekte des Viertels besucht zu haben, eine riesige Textilfabrik aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die nach jahrzehntelanger Nichtbenutzung von den Einheimischen in ein geschäftiges Kulturzentrum umgewandelt wurde – eines, das es sogar geschafft hat eine eigene Bar und Mikrobrauerei. Bei einem Drink und weiteren Häppchen Sants-Essen erfahren wir etwas über die Geschichte der Gemeindeorganisation in Sants und erfahren, was dieses Viertel so besonders macht. Schließlich hat man nicht jeden Tag die Chance, vom Netz zu gehen, während man sich noch im Herzen der Stadt befindet.

We were a group of 3 with a fantastic guide who shared the history of Sants and the foods Catalonian’s eat daily. Well organized as All of the stops were waiting for us with tables set! Our guide served us portions from the market, specialty cheese, meats and chocolates with complete explanations of their heritage and importance in Catalonia diet. We were never rushed, and questions were welcomed. A great experience eating and drinking through Sants!

What a wonderful experience!! I can't say enough about this 1/2 day off the grid food tour. We started our vacation with it learning so much about the city and the history. Sema was such a wonderful guide; she was so knowledgable and fun and it made for a great day! We enjoyed every minute of the tour with her. This tour was incredible! Our tour guide Guilluame was awesome! He showed us a side of Barcelona that we never would have seen if we didn't do the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about food, history, and the neighborhood. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and my shellfish allergy was easily accommodated. Easily one of the best and most unique experiences we have had traveling.
