Auf der Insel Lokrum besuchen wir die größte Höhle Dubrovniks, die Taubenhöhle. Abgeschieden an der Außenseite der Insel ist ihr Eingang von steilen Felsen und mediterraner Vegetation umgeben, die aus den Felsen ragt. Sie können sich ihre Entstehung vorstellen, wie die riesigen und starken Wellen, die über Tausende von Jahren gegen die Felsen schlugen, dieses Naturwunder geformt haben.
Fort Lovrjenac, oft „Dubrovniks Gibraltar“ genannt, ist eine Festung und ein Theater außerhalb der Westmauer der Stadt Dubrovnik in Kroatien, 37 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel.[1] Es ist berühmt für seine Theaterstücke und seine Bedeutung im Widerstand gegen die venezianische Herrschaft und überschattet die beiden Eingänge zur Stadt, vom Meer und vom Land aus. Anfang des 11. Jahrhunderts versuchten die Venezianer, an derselben Stelle, an der heute Fort Lovrijenac steht, ein Fort zu errichten. Wäre es ihnen gelungen, Dubrovnik unter ihrer Macht zu halten, aber die Menschen der Stadt kamen ihnen zuvor. Die „Chroniken von Ragusa“ enthüllen, wie das Fort innerhalb von nur drei Monaten errichtet und von da an ständig umgebaut wurde. Als die venezianischen Schiffe voller Materialien für den Bau des Forts ankamen, wurde ihnen gesagt, sie sollten nach Venedig zurückkehren.
Die Mauern von Dubrovnik sind eine Reihe von Verteidigungsmauern aus Stein, die die Stadt Dubrovnik umgeben. In den Außenbezirken der Stadt, einschließlich der Berghänge, wurden Wälle als Teil einer Reihe von Statuen aus dem Jahr 1272 errichtet. Die bestehenden Stadtmauern wurden hauptsächlich im 13. bis 17. Jahrhundert errichtet. Die Mauern verlaufen ununterbrochen auf einer Länge von etwa 1.940 Metern, umschließen den größten Teil der Altstadt und erreichen eine maximale Höhe von etwa 25 Metern.
Die Villa Sheherezade befindet sich in exklusiver Lage im Herzen von Dubrovnik. Sie wurde ursprünglich 1929 vom wohlhabenden russischen Juden Vilim Zimdin zu Ehren seiner geheimnisvollen Geliebten namens Sheherezade erbaut, nach der die Villa auch heute noch benannt ist.
Schon im 14. Jahrhundert beschloss die Regierung von Dubrovnik nach dem Aufkommen ansteckender Krankheitsepidemien den Bau der ersten Quarantänestationen, um Reisende zu isolieren und zur Verteilung bestimmte Waren zu untersuchen. Im Jahr 1590 begann man mit dem Bau des Lazaretts in Ploče, der bis 1642 dauerte.

Beautiful views of the wall and island. Boat is well maintained and the young Captain was wonderful and very informative. If you are prone to sea sickness this adventure is not for you, the seas are choppy. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time on this sunset boat trip with Jakov/Jacob. It was such a lovely chilled experience with a friendly skipper who was very knowledgeable and took great care when the sea was choppy. We particularly enjoyed the music and the drinks were good too. All in all a fantastic experience and a great way to see this beautiful city/old town :)

Our skipper Mario was lovely. Prompt and professional. Hubby and I had the pleasure of a private sunset experience. Drinks were offered and we connected to the Bluetooth speaker and played some time tracks for 1.5hrs. Mari warned me that the waters were abit choppy due to the windy. I got sea sick towards the end of the cruise. The waters were wilder than I expected but a great experience none the less.
