Das Dorf Dong Ho mit seinen berühmten Gemälden ist zu einem ästhetischen Symbol in der vietnamesischen Kultur geworden. Dong Ho liegt auf der linken Seite des Duong-Flusses und hat jahrhundertelang für seine einzigartigen Kunstwerke gesorgt. Von über 100 Familien in den 1950er Jahren gibt es derzeit nur noch eine Handvoll Familien, die das traditionelle Handwerk herstellen. Dong Ho-Bilder sind Orte, an denen Künstler ihre Glückswünsche und ihre Wahrnehmung des Alltags im Dorf widerspiegeln können.

A really good trip, if you’re interested in art / craft / meeting artisans or just want a nice break an hour from Hanoi. We learned loads and bought some genuine art pieces from the makers at great prices
If you’re looking for off the beaten track experiences in Hanoi, Duc is the person to go with! I took his tour to the Dong Ho painting village where I got to try first-hand the making of a traditional Vietnamese craft, Dong Ho paintings, from one of its last remaining masters, an absolutely priceless experience. Duc is a brilliant curator of tours: the craft learning aside he got me to try authentic, traditional regional food in restaurants off the tourist circuit to get a real experience of Vietnam that is hard to find as a foreign visitor. A well informed guide, Duc is extremely pleasant, passionate and a fun person to travel around with, ensuring that you get the experience that you want and get the chance to have genuine, warm interactions with the local families he introduces you to. Would definitely reach out to Duc again the next time I’m in Hanoi!
