This was a fabulous experience, in no small part due to our amazing guide - Mike Meakins. His local knowledge, great anecdotes and lovely personality made him the ideal person to show us around Port Isaac. You don't need to be a super fan of Doc Martin (although who isn't!) to join the tour since you will learn lots about the area in general. The tour usually takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes but we took a little longer since we couldn't drag ourselves away! Worth every single penny and more so might I suggest tipping Mike so that he can head off afterwards and get himself a well deserved cool beverage of his choice - he totally deserves it!
Great tour, informative, the meeting point was a bit crowded too little of a space for people to wait for the tour to start.
We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Port Isaac with Mike. He is a lovely gentleman who made us feel so welcome from the moment we met him. His knowledge of the village is exceptional, and his firsthand insight into the making of Doc Martin and the inner workings of the show made the tour truly special. Hearing behind-the-scenes stories from someone with personal experience added a whole new dimension that you simply can’t get elsewhere. Mike’s passion for Port Isaac shines through, and his friendly, relaxed style made the tour both informative and entertaining. Alongside the Doc Martin stories, he shared fascinating information about the village’s history, fishing heritage, and local community. We discovered hidden corners we would never have found on our own and came away with a much deeper appreciation of this beautiful Cornish village. This was one of the highlights of our time in Cornwall, and we would highly recommend a tour with Mike to anyone visiting Port Isaac.
Difficult to find and then murder to find a parking place. When we did find one, 4hrs for £7,50, then a £50 parking ticket on our return. Tour was good. Very hilly, lots of walking, 50p to take a pee. Tour was done in 30deg heat, would hate to do it in the rain.
First visit to Port Isaac. It is a lovely place. Opted for the Doc Martin tour as are fans of the show. Our guide was Mike. He was fabulous and the tour was brilliant. As he has spent so much time on the show his insider knowledge was great. Well worth it.
We absolutely loved the tour, Our Tour Guide, Mike was very informative with a few extra titbits about the show. Highly recommend this tour!
It helps to know the show so you can truly appreciate all the character references and locations. Truly immerse in the experience.
We did not realize how much of Doc Martin is filmed off-site. What we saw on the tour could only be exterior shots. This was a bit of a surprise. That being said, we found the town charming and scenic. Our tour guide John was very informative about the town, the show, and the actors. Good fun. John was equally sensitive to our limited mobility. He even booked us a taxi back to the car park at the end.
Vist was ok very nice place, disappointed with the fact there was no original props left at site so you have to use your imagination as to what was there, the guide was good but most of the time it was hard to hear him if near the back, missed some due to step steps so not recommended for older people.
The group was small enough to make sure we could hear all the stories. Our guide was engaging and was able to provide a behind the camera view of Doc Martin. He was entertaining and was able to regale stories about the stars of the show in a very respectful way. He obviously had a great time and love of the show. There is walking involved but with frequent stops to point out key buildings and to tell stories. We were not taxed with the hills.
