Der Friedenspark Imjingak ist das symbolische Tor zur DMZ und ein Ort, der tiefe Einblicke in den Koreanischen Krieg bietet. Sie sehen auch die Dampflokomotive Jangdan Station, die während des Krieges zum Transport militärischer Vorräte eingesetzt wurde. Nach dieser Seite besuchen Sie auch den nächstgelegenen Punkt der JSA – das Panmunjom Visitor Center, wo Sie eine detaillierte Erklärung vor Ort erhalten.

Mangbaedan ist ein Gedenkaltar für Menschen, die während des Koreanischen Krieges von ihren Familien getrennt wurden. Da sie nicht in ihre Heimatorte in Nordkorea zurückkehren konnten, nutzten sie diesen Ort, um sich ihren angestammten Häusern zu verneigen. Es wird nach wie vor besucht, vor allem während der traditionellen Feiertage, von denjenigen, die ihre Familien ehren möchten.
Der Dritte Tunnel ist einer der bekanntesten Standorte in der DMZ. Mit 1.635 Metern Länge, 2 Metern Breite und 2 Metern Höhe wurde sie heimlich von Nordkorea als Invasionsroute nach Südkorea gebaut. Der Tunnel ist groß genug, um eine ganze militärische Division gleichzeitig zu passieren und wurde für den Transport von Truppen, Waffen und Munition konzipiert. Bemerkenswerterweise wurde es nur mit grundlegenden Werkzeugen und Dynamit ausgegraben und in den 1970er Jahren nach Informationen eines Koreanisch Überläufers entdeckt.
Das Dorasan-Observatorium bietet eine seltene Gelegenheit, Nordkorea aus der Ferne zu beobachten. Von diesem Bergobservatorium aus können Sie Teile Nordkoreas betrachten, darunter den Industriekomplex Kaesong, ein Propagandadorf in der Nähe des massiven Koreanisch Fahnenmasten und an klaren Tagen Gebäude im Gemeinsamen Sicherheitsbereich.
Unification Village ist die Endstation der DMZ-Tour. Das Dorf wurde in den 1970er Jahren mit staatlicher Unterstützung gegründet und entstand ursprünglich als Teil internationaler Propagandabemühungen. Seine Struktur wurde vom israelischen Kibbuzsystem inspiriert. Heute leben hier rund 400 Einwohner, von denen die meisten in der Landwirtschaft arbeiten.
Die Freedom Bridge ist eine historische Brücke in Imjingak, die nach dem Koreanischen Krieg erbaut wurde. Es wurde von Kriegsgefangenen genutzt, die während der Waffenstillstandszeit nach Südkorea zurückkehrten. Der Name „Freedom Bridge“ spiegelt ihre Rückkehr aus der Gefangenschaft wider. Heute ist die Brücke ein Symbol für die Teilung Koreas und die Ereignisse nach dem Krieg.

We had a great time at our DMZ tour with the best guide Bill Hwang. He made sure we would make the most of our time there. He was very informative and had the best personality and made the tour fun for our young kids as well. I highly recommend booking this tour with Bill!!! Make sure to get the bean ice cream that he recommends at the end of the tour.

Bill Hwang was a great guide on our DMZ tour. He is a wealth of knowledge, kept our tour entertained but also taught us a lot about the DMZ area and history. He speaks at a great pace and patiently answered our questions. The small group tour was really great because we got to know the other tour members well and formed a close knit group with Bill’s help. It was also nice to not always crowd around to listen because we were a small group. Bill took care of all the ticketing requirements and kept us at a great pace in all the stops during the tour. He also helped us take few great photos on his phone that he shared with us afterwards. I highly recommend the trip and having Bill as a guide.

We had such a great time on this tour, and a big part of that was because of Bill. From the moment we met him, Bill was friendly, kind, and made everyone feel welcome. He did an amazing job explaining each stop along the way without making it feel like a lecture. You could tell he really knows the history and enjoys sharing it. One thing that really stood out was how thoughtful Bill was. He was always offering to take pictures of us, due to the camera restricted areas it made it easy. This was an excellent DMZ tour and one of the highlights of my trip to Korea. The small-group format made a huge difference compared to larger bus tours. With fewer people, there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions, interact with the guide, and really engage with the history and significance of the DMZ. Our guide, Bill Hwang, was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the subject matter. He did a great job explaining the history of the Korean Peninsula and providing context at each stop. I especially enjoyed the unique focus on the two contrasting JSA crossing stories, which added a personal and thought-provoking perspective that I haven’t seen offered on other DMZ tours. The itinerary was well organized, and highlights such as the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Dora Observatory, Imjingak Peace Park, and Unification Village were fascinating. Bill kept the tour informative while also making it enjoyable and easy to follow. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Korea, especially if you’re looking for a more personal experience and a guide who truly brings the history to life.
