Die steilen, verwinkelten Gassen dieses Viertels sind in wunderschönen Azulejos dekoriert und bieten einen atemberaubenden Blick auf ein Meer von Terrakottadächern und den Tejo. Die Aromen der traditionellen portugiesischen Küche, das Echo von Fado-Melodien und das Geschwätz älterer portugiesischer Einheimischer machen dieses Viertel zu einem der authentischsten in Lissabon! Great tour of Lisbon's old town giving highly detailed facts along with local tips and tricks. We were checked in on with stops also in the shade helping during peak heatwave. We were all involved and spoken to on an individual level also. Would highly recommend.

We paid a small amount to book the tour, however when we got there we were told the tour was free. We were then it informed to please tip the guide because she would have to pay her boss for the number of people on the tour.

On the Discover Lisbon website, the title is only "secrets of the old town". The website does not mention that this is a tour of Alfama. My friend and I booked both the Alfama and the Old Town tour, so we were disappointed to show up for our second tour and realize it was the same as the first. Please clarify this on the website!!!
This walking tour through Alfama was a nice way to learn the landscape. Luigi was our tour guide. He was pleasant and knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon. The walk is about 2 hours. It took us through the narrow and hidden streets, up a winding hill. The views are incredible! You also take a small break at the top of the hill where you can grab an espresso and pastel. There is also a bathroom available at the cafe. You get to see the local landmarks like the castle, the smallest bookstore in the world, and the oldest standing house in Lisbon.
