Empfang. Hier beginnt unser Abenteuer mit einer Verkostung typischer Getränke und einer Erklärung von Obsidian und Maguey durch einheimische Handwerker der Region.
Hier werden wir einige völlig natürliche Höhlen besuchen, und man wird uns ihre Bedeutung für die Region erklären.
Sie haben die Möglichkeit, in die reiche Geschichte und Majestät dieser ikonischen archäologischen Stätte in Mexiko einzutauchen. Sonnenpyramide: Dies ist das größte Bauwerk in Teotihuacán und eine der größten Pyramiden der Welt. Mondpyramide: Diese Pyramide befindet sich am nördlichen Ende der Avenue of the Dead und ist ebenso beeindruckend. Allee der Toten: Diese breite Allee erstreckt sich über etwa 2,5 Kilometer durch Teotihuacán und verbindet die beiden Hauptpyramiden. Tempel und Paläste: Auf der Tour können Besucher mehrere Tempel und Paläste erkunden, beispielsweise den Tempel von Quetzalcoatl, der für seine komplizierten Skulpturen gefiederter Schlangen bekannt ist. Standortmuseum: Um ein tieferes Verständnis der Geschichte und Kultur von Teotihuacán zu erlangen.

This was an incredible opportunity to learn some history and be outdoors! Our Explora Mexico coordinator Joanny communicated clearly and thoroughly in advance and was easy to access with questions on the day of. Our driver Jorge was similarly helpful and got us there and back quickly and safely. Our pyramid tour guide was Ramon and he had a wealth of knowledge that he was excited to share. This tour was fantastic value for money. We were picked up from our accommodation directly. Enjoyed the agave and tequila demonstrations and the tour of Teotihuacan was in-depth and seamless.

The good things first: The private driver was superb and worth the extra money! He didn't speak any English however his Attitude was first class! Overall: The Pyramids are certainly worth a visit. However, most of the other parts of this experience were below expectations. They take you to a Tourist shop and the guide didn't have a clue about the Pyramids. We figured this out when we visited the Anthropology Museum 3 days later. Therefore, visit the Museum first and then try - if possible - take a private car and driver to visit the Pyramides yourself (Might not be possible to protect the many jobs that are connected to it): This is a huge site and you will only get to see a small part of it with a guided group!!! By the way, I hoped to climb the Pyramids however Unesco stopped people 5 years ago from climbing up the Pyramids which is a shame. You can still see the railings etc. That would have been a highlight to get an overview of the area etc. PS: Make sure to go to the Gruta Restaurant afterwards - totally worth it, great food and unique atmosphere.

The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Spoke English and Spanish fluently. The ride out was a little bumpy, but definitely worth it!

While the trip to the pyramids was amazing, I was disappointed by the tour package offered by Explora. The tour makes long stops at tourist traps where they try to sell you overpriced items. The worst part was the mandatory lunch at the cave restaurant, which was not even a cave. It was a concrete basement underneath a regular house. At this restaurant, they charge you US$25 for a lousy lunch. Unfortunately, you end up wasting almost 4 hours at these shopping and lunch stops, leaving very little time to explore the pyramids and the basilica. Also, our tour-guide spoke his memorized script so fast, it was very difficult to understand him, and he was barely audible in the back of the bus. In hindsight, I would have been better off going with another tour where they charge more upfront, but I would not waste so much time and money at the tourist traps.
