Brilliant morning tour with stops along Lake Wakatipu, in Glenorchy and in Paradise valley and the forest.
Aithne, it sounds like you had a truly magical morning touring Lake Wakatipu and discovering the enchanting spots in Glenorchy and Paradise valley! The stunning landscapes and serene forest always leave a lasting impression. We can't wait to welcome you back for more adventures through New Zealand's breathtaking vistas!
Friendly and knowledgable tour guide. He took time at each film location to go over the background information and camera angles. At the flooded Isengard film location, he brought some props to dress us up as a wizard/hobbit for pictures! Highly recommend.
Awesome tour! Peter was very upbeat and knowledgeable… not only about the LOTR but also local info. We had a great time and would recommend this to anyone.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, and he did pick us up from our hotel. However, there were no drinks or snacks provided which was advertized and shown in the picture. They said the tour could be cancelled due to bad weather but despite heavy rain, the tour went on and it was too late for us to cancel and get a refund. With the heavy rain, you could not see much from many of the sites. The view of the mountains was completely washed out and we froze in the cold rain.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you found your guide knowledgeable and friendly, and that the hotel pickup was appreciated. We’re sorry the experience did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the weather conditions and refreshments. Our tours do operate in a wide range of weather conditions, as the alpine environment around Glenorchy can change very quickly. While heavy rain can sometimes impact visibility, the weather can also clear rapidly, often creating the dramatic and mystical scenery the Glenorchy area is well known for. We would also like to look into the comments regarding the advertised snacks and drinks. Please feel free to contact us directly at digital@nomadsafaris.co.nz so we can review your booking further with you.
If you want to see all the places that were used to film Lord of the Rings, do it with this company Ask for Fin Was so
I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoyed exploring the Lord of the Rings filming locations with us! Big shoutout to Fin for making your experience so memorable. Those cinematic landscapes truly come to life here in Queenstown, don't they?
We had the best half day tour with Nomad Safaris. Our guide Justin was the best- we talked about LOTR books and movies, filming locations, other movies filmed in the area, general history about Queenstown and the surrounding areas, etc. He went above and beyond to get the best photos for us to bring home and was great to have as a guide. We were served biscuits, banana bread, and options of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at one of our last stops. We then had the opportunity to put on elven cloaks and do some pretend sword fighting where the battle of Isengard was filmed. We were dropped off in Glenorchy, and Justin again gave us wonderful recommendations for lunch and what to do for a couple of hours until our afternoon adventure. We would absolutely book another tour for different filming locations if we go back to Queenstown.
It's fantastic to hear that your half-day tour with Nomad Safaris was such a hit! Justin truly seems to have made the experience come alive with his vast knowledge, from Lord of the Rings details to intriguing snippets about Queenstown's history. The chance to step into elven cloaks and relive the battle of Isengard sounds like pure magic. I'm delighted to know you enjoyed the treats and drinks, as well as Justin's insightful recommendations. It's wonderful to read that you'd consider diving into more filming locations with us. Thank you for sharing your joyous adventure!
A great tour! We got to see several of the locations where the LOTR was filmed and even act out a couple of scenes. And the tour was also great for fabulous scenery and informative information on the history of the Queenstown and Glenorchy region in addition to LOTR lore.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, both from the commentary of our guides, Justin and Ellen, on Lord of the Rings lore, and also for the spectacular scenery and information on the history of the Queenstown area. We highly recommend this tour.
Hearing about your marvellous tour with Justin and Ellen brightened my day! Their passion for Lord of the Rings lore and the breathtaking views of Queenstown seem to have made your adventure truly special. It's wonderful that you found their storytelling and insights into the area's history so enriching.
Great tour of LOTR film shooting locations. Tour guide should not let a guest on the tour dominate the tour discussion.
We really enjoyed the Four Wheel Drive Lord of the Rings tour to Glenorchy. The drive to Glenorchy and beyond is absolutely breathtaking and one of the most beautiful scenic routes. We stopped a few times along the way to take in the views before continuing through the small settlement of Paradise, where we were able to see several filming locations from The Lord of the Rings as well as other movies. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, which made the tour enjoyable. I had imagined there might be even more detailed information about the film productions themselves, but overall it was still a very pleasant and memorable afternoon in a stunning landscape.
It's great to hear you had such a memorable time on our Four Wheel Drive Lord of the Rings tour to Glenorchy! The drive through that incredible landscape is something else, isn't it? The stops along the way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the visit to the enchanting Paradise settlement make for a special adventure. We're delighted that our guide's friendly and knowledgeable presence added to your experience. We'll definitely take your feedback on board about wanting more details on the film productions and appreciate your input.
