Simi was great. Prompt, communicated early and often, knowledgeable, interesting, a good driver, and brought us pastries between sites. The Etruscan tombs were fascinating!
Ciao Nancy, thank you so much for your feedback. Makes me happy to know you had a good day and could discover much more about the etruscan !! See you again for more amazing italian holidays :-) ciao !
5/5 we experienced the most fascinating day with Simone visiting Etruscan necropolises. Pickup at our AirBnB and taken directly for 8+ hours. Effortless and so interesting. Can’t recommend it enough. Go and learn about the civilization that pre-dated the Romans. And be sure to ask for Simone.
Ciao James , thank you for kindness and for being so friendly and nice from the very begin ! Makes me really happy that you could get more about the etruscan civilization and that the day was comfortable ! See you again for more amazing discovery , say ciao to everyone grazie mille
Simon provided us with a most delightful day of Etruscan learning. He was prompt, responsible, and filled with excellent information, both historical and current. He picked us up at our AirBnB, and drove us to Cervetri and Tarquinia, where we explored the Etruscan tombs. We highly recommend our tour guide Simon!
When you are so lucky to have lovely travelers with you , the day become so beautiful and entertaining that you wish for more to come ! It makes very happy to read that you all enjoyed it and got to know more about Etruscan , grazie mille !!!
We had the BEST experience with Simone on our trip to Cerveteri and Tarquinia. It was a dream come true for me--a scholar of the Etruscans. The car ride was on-time, pleasant, and he is just a delightful person to chat with. Simone gave us the right amount of information to allow us to explore the sites on our own. We saw two major Etruscan necropoleis, the nearby towns and museums AND had a delightful lunch in the modern city. And when parts of Cerveteri were closed for filming, Simone led us to some incredible hiddenni tombs--off the beaten path--a wonderful surprise! I can't wait to return to Rome and have him take us on more adventures. Grazie mille!
This was an excellent way of spending one of my days while visiting Rome. Cerveteri is a sprawling expanse of tumulus after tumulus. It's not like most archaeological parks where all that's left is a series of small walls - the tumuli are mostly intact if a bit overgrown which only serves to heighten the sense of wonder and mystery. You can really feel you are in a setting that the Etruscans could still recognise. Conversely, nothing remains above the surface at Tarquinia - a few relatively modern entryways to modern stairs. But at the base of the stairs you can look into at least a dozen tombs with spectacular preserved frescoes that give you a glimpse into the lost Etruscan world. Scoot Around Rome - and my guide Simone - were an excellent way to reach the sites. The drive isn't bad and Simone was able to provide a lot of insight both into the Etruscans and some other aspects of Italy on route. He was extremely flexible and communicative and I felt that the value added to the trip by using Scoot Around Rome more than justified the price of hiring them. I travel regularly and have booked tours through companies similar to Scoot Around Rome over the years and I would place this Simone and Scoot Around Rome in the top tier.
Wonderful trip! Simone is knowledgeable and speaks very good English. We spent as long as we wanted to at each site. Simone bought us lovely cakes after the first site which was much appreciated. Next year we will book Simone’s Tivoli trip which sounds amazing.
I spent a wonderful day with Simone who is cultured, considerate and attentive. I discovered the Etruscan sites and the museum of Tarquinia in absolute comfort and tranquility. I highly recommend Simone , it is all Italy by his good humor and cheerfulness, again thank you .
We did three day trips with Simone and they were all very informative and great fun. The Etruscan day was probably the highlight, especially the necropolis of Cerveteri, which is vast and unique. We learned a lot about the Etruscans and had fun clambering in and out of tombs. Our driver/ guide, Simone, made the day very enjoyable. We also recommend his trips to Hadrian's Villa/ Villa d'Este and the day along the Appian Way. We were very glad we had booked him for all three ahead of time.
We had a wonderful tour with Simi visiting the Etruscan sites of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. Simi is a fantastic guide – very friendly, punctual, and clearly very passionate about the history of the region. He explained everything in a very engaging way and also shared helpful tips and recommendations along the way. The Etruscan necropolises are truly fascinating and definitely worth visiting. Unfortunately, at one of the sites only about half of the tombs were open to visitors because the others were under restoration, so we couldn’t see all of the painted tombs. Still, it was a very interesting experience and we learned a lot. The museum in Tarquinia is excellent and complements the visit to the necropolises perfectly. With Simi’s explanations, the history really came to life. Overall, we highly recommend Simi as a guide. He is knowledgeable, well organized, and makes the whole experience both informative and enjoyable.
What a wonderful experience ! The tombs. especially Cerveteri, were amazing, the trip very well organized, and Simone, our driver/guide, an absolute pleasure to be with. I cannot imagine a better way to see both these sites. I highly recommend Scoot Around Rome.
