Die Lepakshi-Tour ist eine geführte Tour zu einem architektonischen Juwel des Vijayanagara-Reiches. Sie ist eine Fundgrube an Tempeln, Skulpturen, Gemälden und anderen Kunstwerken. Die hängende Säule in der Tempelhalle ist ein Wunderwerk der alten Bautechnik. Das andere Highlight ist das Geheimnis der Riesen, die laut Legenden die alten Teile des Tempels gebaut haben sollen. Wir werden nach Spuren der Beweise suchen, die Riesen von ihrer Existenz hinterlassen haben!

Wir erkunden dieses Meisterwerk der Vijaynagara-Architektur aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. An erster Stelle steht der Abschnitt mit dem Namen Mukha Mandapa, der als Veranstaltungsort für Tanz und andere kulturelle Aktivitäten diente. Wir besuchen dann die Artha Mandapa, wo der König seine Anbetung machte und wo die Garbha Griha die Gottheit beherbergt. Was folgt, ist ein einzigartiger Hochzeitssaal aus grauem Sandstein mit 38 monolithischen Säulen, in denen Lord Shiva und Lady Parvati in der Antike hätten heiraten sollen!
Indiens größte Nandi Bull Statue lockt uns nach Lepakshi. Diese aus einem einzigen Granitblock gefertigte Statue ist 1,80 m groß und 1,80 m lang. Wir können den bezaubernden Nandi bestaunen, der einen Kaasu Malai, eine Glockenkette, Ohrringe und anderen Schmuck trägt!

Lepakshi is amazingly beautiful, a Must see for the delicate sculpture, colourful fresque and too cute monkeys. Mayuri, 5senses guide, was a delight to be with! Knowledgeable, open minded and very well organised. All was taken care off to perfection, I just had to enjoy discover and enjoy free of any hassle. Thank you Mayuri!
This ancient mini marvel of a temple was built during the reign of King Sri Achutha Raya by his treasurer Virupanna.Though has many pillars it is balanced by one single pillar.Paintings of shiva,krishna and other deities adore the roof of temple using natural colors. Marriage Mantapa is incomplete without roof as Virupanna died before it's completion.But pullers depict mythologically important characters including famous Girija kalyanam.Further mythological history dates back to period of Ramayana where folklore says it's here the great Jatayu s wings was severed by Ravana the demon when the bird tried to obstruct Ravana from kidnapping Sita wife of Rama.Statue of Jatayu is seen rock.
