Had a great day with Irfan, our driver. He told us a lot about Sri Lanka. Showed us extra interesting places and let us taste Sri lankan specialties. He also drives neatly and gentle. With a son who always get carsick thans is really a bonus.
We had a fantastic time with our guide Shamin. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and took particular care as we hiked down the rock in the middle of a downpour and suddenly surrounded by brand new waterfalls that popped out of nowhere! We expressed an interest in trying local food and he made multiple stops for us at short notice throughout the 11 hour tour to enjoy fresh snacks at the road side stalls. I’m traveling solo and decided to do a day tour from Kandy to learn more about the area and do some hiking. Adhil picked me up from my accommodation in the morning and we spent the whole day together exploring, hiking and laughing :) He is very knowledgeable and fun and offered to stop anywhere along the way. This tour was so much more than I expected. Adil took me on several stops including an Ayurvedic herb garden, a Hindu temple, as well as Dambulla and Pidurangala. Even with all the stops, I never felt rushed and enjoyed each site for as long as I pleased. The highlight was definitely hiking up to the top of Pidurangala and spending a good chunk of time just admiring the view and enjoying the peace and quiet from a vantage point far above the fray. Adil was such a delightful guide (and very safe driver). It was such a pleasure chatting with him and learning about the life, customs, and history of Sri Lanka. I would definitely recommend this tour.
