Okay. If you are looking at all in one tours this is probably the better option. There are one day tours of the island but you miss a lot doing it in one day. You really need two days to do it all which this tour does....basically all the greatest hits of the east and the west. Be aware that they sometimes change the order of the sites and sometimes flip around day 1 and day 2. If you want to see absolutely everything do this tour plus the "hidden gems" tour and maybe a boat tour as well (we did). A note about the lunches: there are other lunch places around the day of the volcanic lunch cozida al furnas but not many options on the second day. The buffet lunch is okay. But the volcanic lunch was a disappointment (sadly) as the food was nice but bland no seasoning no spice little flavor. My Azorean friends say the local versions are spicy so maybe they make it bland for the tourists. Ask for spice and seasonings for yours. Apart from the food a great tour it has everything. But don't forget the botanical gardens and thermal baths cost an extra 17 euros. And they want 3 euro admission for the volcanic park where they cook the food. But the botanical garden in Ponta Delgado is just as nice and it is free so go there and skip this unless you specifically want the thermal pools part. As I said a great tour and it would be basically impossible to rent a car and do all that driving yourself on very narrow winding and steep roads. Bom Dia!
We were not lucky with the time, but the script is quite interesting and unavoidable. The guide was correct, but with little interaction. The lunch included for me was not worth it, but there were no proximad options.
A great way to see the island without having to rent a car (you would be fine driving around town, but getting to some of the highlight spots in Sete Cidades, for example, are easy to miss or require a half day hike). We had João and Eric for the two days and they were both very friendly and knowledgeable, taking us to many sightseeing/photo ops and local places over the two days. You do travel in a 8 or 10 passenger van though, which allows you to get to some of the harder to navigate spots, but I would recommend motion sickness meds (if you’re like me and haven’t sat in the back of a van in a while) and layers, as the weather changes rapidly. Can’t recommend this tour enough, though, and the lunch option is well worth it to get a real taste of the local cuisine.
Amazing experience! We had two local guides (Gonçalo and Andrea). They were both very informed on the island and took great care of us across the days. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.
Jaon (john) and Andrea made a wonderful tour of the island the 2 days we were at sao miguel. Would definitely recommend this tour especially if your limited to your stay at the island, great way to see everything on the island and still get time to explore.
I would say the two day tour is definitely worth your money and time. The guides are well experienced and have a depth of knowledge about the island and history. The lunch on both days was phenomenal and allowed for more time to connect with the group members. One thing I would advise for future tour-goers is to bring a rain jacket, we did and it was needed on some points during the tour. The weather in the Azores can be unpredictable, with that in mind some of the beautiful scenic stops you might not be able to see due to the fog. That being said, the wind can often move the fog away very quickly and allow for a nice view. Another thing would be if you would like to go into the Hot Springs in Terranostra you should bring swimsuits and a towel as well as be aware that it is an extra 17€. Part of the group that did the hot springs throughly enjoyed it and mentioned that they would like to go back with more time. If this isn’t something you might like, you can opt out and walk around the surrounding town and its parks which is what we did, and it was delightful.
An incredible two-day tour led by some of the best guides on São Miguel. Don't hesitate to book. Peace.
Our tour guide was excellent, really knowledgeable and passionate about the Island. We had a great two days.
Happy mix of information about culture, nature, local products. Excellent guide!
Went on 2 day excursion. Although Andrea was great, 6 out of 8 passengers only spoke Portuguese. I think a lot was lost in translation. Viator accommodated us for second day. Henry was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the second day more
