Das Zentrum der modernen Stadt wird von der felsigen Klippe dominiert, die als Akropolis bekannt ist. Es war Perikles im fünften Jahrhundert v. Chr., der den Bau der wichtigsten architektonischen Meisterwerke der Stätte koordinierte. Der Parthenon, die Propyläen, das Erechtheion und der Tempel der Athena Nike wurden in dieser Zeit unter der Aufsicht der größten Architekten, Bildhauer und Künstler ihrer Zeit errichtet wichtigste Sehenswürdigkeit der Stadt und stellt eines der bekanntesten Denkmäler der Welt dar !!!
Der Tempel des olympischen Zeus im Südosten Athens wird auch als Olympieion bezeichnet. Sein Bau dauerte mehrere Jahrhunderte, von 510 v. Chr. bis 131 n. Chr., und es ist einer der größten antiken Tempel des Zeus sowie eines der berühmtesten Marmorgebäude, die jemals in der Antike errichtet wurden. Ursprünglich waren es 104 gigantische korinthische Säulen, von denen heute noch 16 stehen und eine auf dem Boden liegt.
Auf dem Hauptplatz von Athen befindet sich das griechische Parlament. Dort können Sie die Zeremonie der Wachablösung sehen.

An absolutely amazing tour that exceeded our expectations. Great communication prior to the tour with all of my questions being answered promptly. Our wonderful guide was waiting for us as we disembarked our cruise ship. He was warm, welcoming and had good English. Our guide was organised and had a clear plan of our tour which was timed perfectly. We never felt rushed and enjoyed just the right amount of time in each spot. Our tour was called Athens’ Finest and it absolutely was! We saw all of the most iconic spots in Athens but most importantly, our guide provided us with information about each attraction which was so important for us to have the full experience and understanding of the places we were visiting. I really wonderful tour and great value for money. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Athens.

Evangelos was prompt and met us directly at the entrance/exit of the cruise port. Immediately he went into telling us fascinating facts about the culture, daily life, and history of Piraeus and Athens. This guy knew his stuff. I really liked how he not only talked about historical aspects of Athens (which is obviously important) but he also dove deep into family life, daily life, cultural traditions, entertainment and even architecture, city planning, and zoning. He was a wealth of knowledge. The ride was extremely comfortable and he took us to go see some out of tis world sites. Even though there was some traffic in the city as we were driving around, he kept us entertain and entranced with his knowledge, but there was also a good balance of silence and letting us look around uninterrupted. Evangelos somehow got us to the changing of the guard, at the EXACT perfect time. I was thoroughly impressed. As much my mother and I loved our experience around the city, my favorite part was when he went out of his way to find us a good Greek restaurant so that we could grab some togo Gyros and Souvlaki to go before getting back on our cruise ship. I should have bought two extra gyros, they were SOOOO good. Thanks Evangelos, you made my Mom and my first trip to Athens a very memorable one, and I am already planning my return!

Whilst on a recent Greek cruise we had Athens as one of our destinations so I researched an independent tour.Brilliant couple of hours seeing the sites of Athens.Excellent communication, Michel our driver was waiting for us at the cruise terminal, very knowledgeable and adaptable for what we wanted to see during the 4 hours. Have used Viators now for several countries and would continue to trust them for independent tours.
