Nach Jahrzehnten des Konflikts ist Vietnam übersät mit historischen Kriegsschauplätzen. Der Vietnamkrieg hatte große Auswirkungen auf Millionen von Leben von beiden Seiten. Es besteht kein Zweifel, dass eine Reise nach Vietnam nicht vollständig wäre, ohne historische Kriegsschauplätze von Interesse zu besuchen. Cu Chi Tunnels waren nicht nur die Heimat für Tausende von Vietcong Guerillas, sondern es war auch eine komplizierte Struktur bestehend aus zahlreichen Gräben, Bunkern, Fallen, Schutzräumen und einem erstaunlichen Luftbelüftungssystem. Das Cu-Chi-Tunnelnetz ist ein ausgedehntes Labyrinth unterirdischer Tunnel, die sich bis zur kambodschanischen Grenze erstrecken. Sie wurden über einen Zeitraum von etwa 25 Jahren gebaut und der erste Bau begann 1948 von den Viet Minh während des Krieges gegen die Franzosen. Soldaten kochten, aßen, schliefen, arbeiteten und gingen sogar in diesen Tunneln zur Schule, während oben Konflikte tobten, ganz zu schweigen davon, dass es Krankenhäuser, Theater, Schulen, Küchen gab, die alle in dieses außergewöhnliche Tunnelsystem eingebaut waren.

Our Cu Chi Tunnels experience was made unforgettable thanks to our guide, Phuc Long. He is a natural storyteller, and that made all the difference. Instead of just reciting facts, he wove the history into vivid stories that brought the tunnels and the people who lived in them to life. The whole group was hooked from start to finish. On top of that, he is genuinely hilarious. His sense of humour kept the energy high and the mood light, even while covering serious history. He had us laughing throughout the day, and that warmth made the experience feel personal rather than like a standard tour. He answered every question patiently and made sure nobody felt left behind. The tapioca tasting and walking through the actual tunnels were highlights, and Phuc Long gave us so much context and colour that we appreciated every moment. Long is an amazing tour guide! He is so knowledgable about the history of the Vietnam war and the contemporary politics of Vietnam, and he is very transparent about what parts of the history are true and what parts are narrativized. He is so happy to answer questions and incorporates a good amount of humor while still honoring the heaviness of the material. I could not recommend him more highly!

Really smooth tour, our guide Long was amazing, super informative, always ready to answer questions, and made it such an enjoyable tour. It’s a long journey to get to the cu chi tunnels from Ho Chi Minh, but Long made it worth it and entertaining on the bus :)

Phuc Long was an awesome guide! Answered all of our questions and was very insightful. Had a great sense of humor as well. The tunnel crawl was very fun. I am a bigger guy(about 213 lbs) and was able to get through the 100 meter crawl. Would highly recommend!!!
