We’re big fans of bike tours wherever we travel. The beauty of a bike tour is that you get the joy of moving your body while covering far more ground than you could on foot. It’s the best of both worlds, and this tour is a fantastic way to experience the English countryside in a single day. The scenery was breathtaking and steeped in history. We cycled through several idyllic villages, explored Roman ruins, and visited beautiful historic churches along the way. As lovers of English literature, we couldn't help but notice how much of the literary imagination seems to spring from landscapes like these. At times, it felt as though we were riding through the Shire or the Hundred Acre Wood (yes, I know Milne was from Sussex, but the point still stands!). Our guide, John, was a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. He shared fascinating insights about Roman Britain, the region’s history, and its influence on Tolkien and other notable figures. He also led us to a delightful pub for lunch—a perfect midday break. We were a family of four—two adults and two twenty-something children—and had ideal weather: warm but not hot, with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine. One small note: the first and last mile or two follow a bike path alongside a busy road. It felt perfectly safe, but it was a little nerve-racking for the least experienced cyclist in our group. After that, however, the ride settled into a wonderfully relaxed pace through some of the most beautiful countryside we’ve ever explored. Highly recommended.
Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. Sincerely
An excellent day spent exploring such a beautiful area! Alasdair was such a kind & humorous person & felt like a friend by the end. The tour started around 10:00am and ended around 5:45pm so it was a full day of e-bike riding and totally worth it! I loved the stops at the 700 year old pub and the lunch spot. I am so glad we booked this e-bike tour and I highly recommend it!
Hi Erika, Thanks for leaving such a great recommendation. Sincerely, Alasdair
I would suggest a few things. The roads are a bit rough so wear bike pants if you have them. You should be a decent rider for this tour. While Mike was all about safety, this is not for somebody who is not confident on a bike . Overall enjoyable. The bikes were great and the electric assist was needed for some of the hills . Not easy to get to Hans borough by train so give yourself time .
Hi Steve, Thanks for the recommendation review and the feedback to share with other prospective future clients. Sincerely, Alasdair
My husband and I have travelled the world and this was definitely one of the top most wonderful experiences we have had! The tour guide was fantastic. The electric bikes worked great and were the best way to see the Cotswolds hands down. It was just our group of two couples and our guide. He was so knowledgeable and really let us take our time in the places we wanted to spend time. The pub we ate at for lunch was so delicious and in the most picturesque place. The whole 8 hours we couldn’t believe how beautiful it was!! Definitely take this tour! We will never forget it.
Hi Jennifer, Thanks for the recommendation!
Had a blast. The bikes are in great shape and make it easy, the best way to see the Cotswolds as you see so much more than a car. Plus the ability to stop and check out a pub or village church made it fantastic. Great information and fun time! A must do!
Hi John, Thanks for recommending your Cotswolds bike tour experience with me, despite the 4 seasons in a day British weather! Best regards. Alasdair
We really enjoyed this cycle tour. Our guide Laura was very kind and looked after us very well. The e-bikes were good quality and well maintained and were very welcome on the hilly roads of the Cotswolds! We’d definitely recommend this tour to others.

My daughter (21) and I (50) loved our day riding with Alasdair in The Cotswolds. Alasdair was a great tour host sharing his vast knowledge of local history whilst making the day lots of fun. The six hours riding electric bikes meant we were able to cover ground and see many sites. The country side was breathtaking. Really enjoyed our cafe lunch and short stop at an old pub on the way home. Highly recommended for those that like bike riding and love a day in the country. Tanya and Emma (Sydney, Australia)
Hi. Note sure how I missed seeing your review earlier but thanks for choosing the tour. Sincerely/, Alasdair
We had a great time on the Cotswolds Electric Bike Tour. Alasdair went out of his way to make sure he had the right size bike for me (I’m 5 ‘ 1”) and had everything smoothly planned. He was a great tour guide and the electric bikes made it super easy and fun. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys seeing the sites and getting some exercise.
Hi Claudia, Thanks for recommending your Cotswolds electric bike tour experience with me. It was a pleasure to meet all of you. Sincerely, Alasdair
