Die Kondore entlang der Apurimac-Schlucht erlauben Ihnen die Beobachtung des größten fliegenden Vogels der Welt, des majestätischen Anden-Kondors, der von der Chonta-Schlucht hochsteigt, die Teil der Apurimac-Schlucht in der Nähe von Cusco ist. Chonta Canyon ist einer der tiefsten Canyons in Südamerika und Heimat zahlreicher Andenkondore.

Reiseverlauf
Wir starten um 7 Uhr morgens von Ihrem Hotel in Cusco zum Abenteuer. Wir fahren in die Stadt Limatambo und halten unterwegs an Aussichtspunkten, um Fotos von den atemberaubenden Anden und dem Berg Salkantay zu machen. Wir fahren dann weiter durch wunderschöne Berglandschaften. Nach einer Stunde kommen wir in Killarumiyoc an, wo unser Führer die gesamte Inka-Geschichte dieses bezaubernden Ortes erklärt. Anschließend geht es weiter ins Tal von Limatambo, wo sich die Inka-Stätte Tarawasi befindet. Nachdem wir diesen wunderschönen Ort erkundet haben, setzen wir unsere Tour fort und fahren bergauf auf der unbefestigten Straße in Richtung der Gemeinde Chonta. Nach der Ankunft wandern wir 1 ½ Stunden (mittlerer Schwierigkeitsgrad) und erreichen den Aussichtspunkt Hahuacco, der eine großartige Aussicht auf die Apurimac-Schlucht und die Vilcabamaba-Bergkette bietet. Mit etwas Glück werden wir unsere Condor-Sichtung genießen. Es ist üblich, die majestätischen Kondore in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum schweben zu sehen und über den Chonta-Canyon zu fliegen. Am Nachmittag laufen wir 1 ½ Stunden zurück nach Chonta und fahren dann zurück nach Cusco. Die Abholzeit ist zwischen 2:15 und 2:45 Uhr. Bitte warten Sie um 2:15 Uhr in Ihrer Hotellobby und halten Sie Ausschau nach dem Van. Sie können ein Kissen und eine Decke mitbringen, um während der Fahrt mit dem Van etwas mehr Schlaf zu bekommen (diese können während der Wanderung im Van gelassen werden). I did the day condor day trip with Jacob, it is a really worth while day trip to a beautiful canyon about 2.5 hours from Cusco. We were lucky enough to see some beautiful and majestic condors. The trip additionally included a stop at some previous INKA ruins, I found Jacob to be an excellent and knowledgable guide throughout this trip. I would recommend this trip if you have time and would like to see condors close to Cusco.
I went on the one-day condor tour from Cusco. I was a young woman traveling by myself, but never felt in danger or uncomfortable with my FlashPacker Connect team. My tour guide, Jacob and driver Hugo picked me up from my hotel around 7:30 am. We drove to Killarumiyoc where Jacob gave me a tour of the ruins there. He was very knowledgable about history and you can tell that he really enjoys "letting you fly with history." It really is a cool experience seeing these smaller archeological sites in smaller groups. Totally different experience than a crowded Machu Piccu tour or even a group tour at less crowded places. I also really enjoyed having the time to get to know my tour guide, Jacob, both on the drive and during the tour. He taught me so much more than what was technically "included" in the tour. When we made it to the small village of Chonta, we went to a small trailhead where we hiked for about an hour to the condor lookout. We waited for about 2 hours for the condors to come out soaring (it seemed to correlate with when the sun finally came out from thick cloud cover). There were also other birds there to keep me occupied though, including eagles and a pair of peregrine falcons, along with some parrots. Jacob was very patient even though I knew he probably wanted to get going as it was a Friday afternoon. When the condors finally came out flying, I really cannot explain how amazing it was! We saw both adults and juvenile condors. One juvenile flew very close to the lookout and you could tell he was curious about us. I thought I would want to take more pictures, but my absolute favorite thing to do was just look through my binoculars at the birds and just take in every moment. We also had a wonderful packed lunch while out there. Hugo, our driver, was very patient and waited for us until we came back later in the afternoon. Overall an amazing experience. Would highly recommend both the Condor tour and Jacob.
I sincerely recommend this tour... The two first stops at inca sites were really interesting. The walk to the observation point was so beautiful...the view is just amazing...and when the condors finally arrive, it's just magic. I was alone for this daytrip but my guide Yeicob was such a good company and gave me really good explanations. We took all the time needed to watch the condors, no rush at anytime. I really appreciated it. The food was nice as well. Nothing negative to say.
This tour was so easy to book, with a fabulous website and easy email contact to confirm details. Our guide Jonathan was excellent, from start (right on time) to the end. Excellent English, knowledge, humour and pace set (including on the optional extras for the adventurous). Mr Mario whipped up a delicious meal on a camp cooker, with asparagus soup with garlic bread, ceviche, corn both on the cob and roasted, avocado salad, and scrumptious stuffed peppers on ricotta fritters. And then there were the Condors.... we saw 10-12 in flight and it was breathtaking and indescribable. Fantastic way to end the year!
Absolutely loved this day trip. Our guide Jonathan was superb. He was knowledgeable, super friendly, spoke fantastic English and took us to some amazing ‘off the beaten track’ spots for incredible views of the valley and the Condors. Mario the cook delivered an amazing traditional feast for us when we got back to the van. Our driver was fantastic at navigating the dirt road, which is not for the faint hearted. Overall a 10/10 experience and one we will never forget.
