Ursprünglich als Porta Appia bekannt, befand sich das Tor über der Via Appia, der Regina Viarum (Königin der Straßen), die an der Porta Capena in der Servianischen Mauer ihren Ursprung hatte.
Die Katakomben von Rom (italienisch: Catacombe di Roma) sind antike Katakomben, unterirdische Grabstätten in und um Rom, von denen es mindestens vierzig gibt, von denen einige erst in den letzten Jahrzehnten wiederentdeckt wurden.
Die Via Appia (lateinisch und italienisch: Via Appia) ist eine der frühesten und strategisch wichtigsten Römerstraßen der antiken Republik. Sie verband Rom mit Brindisi im Südosten Italiens. Seine Bedeutung wird durch den von Statius aufgezeichneten gebräuchlichen Namen Appia longarum... regina viarum („die Via Appia, die Königin der langen Straßen“) angezeigt. Die Straße ist nach Appius Claudius Caecus benannt, dem römischen Zensor, der im Jahr 312 v. Chr. während der Samnitenkriege den ersten Abschnitt als Militärstraße nach Süden begann und fertigstellte.
Santa Maria in Palmis, auch bekannt als Chiesa del Domine Quo Vadis, ist eine kleine Kirche südöstlich von Rom. Sie liegt etwa 800 m von der Porta San Sebastiano entfernt, wo die Via Ardeatina von der Via Appia abzweigt, an der Stelle, an der laut der apokryphen Apostelgeschichte des Petrus der heilige Petrus dem auferstandenen Christus begegnete, während Petrus vor der Verfolgung in Rom floh. Die Villa des Maxentius ist eine Kaiservilla in Rom, die vom römischen Kaiser Maxentius erbaut wurde. Der Komplex liegt zwischen der zweiten und dritten Meile der antiken Via Appia und besteht aus drei Hauptgebäuden: dem Palast, dem Zirkus von Maxentius und dem dynastischen Mausoleum, die als untrennbare architektonische Einheit zu Ehren von Maxentius entworfen wurden.
Die Cestius-Pyramide ist eine Pyramide aus der Römerzeit in Rom, Italien, in der Nähe der Porta San Paolo und des protestantischen Friedhofs. Es wurde als Grab für Gaius Cestius, ein Mitglied der Epulones-Religionsgemeinschaft, erbaut. Aufgrund seiner Einbindung in die Stadtbefestigung ist es heute eines der am besten erhaltenen antiken Gebäude Roms.
Die Päpstliche Basilika Sankt Paul vor den Mauern (italienisch: Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura) ist neben den Basiliken St. Johannes im Lateran, St. Peter und St. Maria eine der vier größten päpstlichen Basiliken Roms Major sowie eine der sieben Pilgerkirchen Roms.
Der Orangenbaumgarten ist der Name, der in Rom zur Beschreibung des Parco Savello verwendet wird. Es ist etwa 7.800 Quadratmeter groß und liegt auf dem Aventin-Hügel. Der Park bietet einen hervorragenden Blick auf die Stadt. Der Garten in seiner heutigen Form wurde 1932 von Raffaele De Vico entworfen.
Der Aventin-Hügel ist der südlichste der sieben Hügel Roms.
Der Circus Maximus ist ein antikes römisches Wagenrennstadion und Veranstaltungsort für Massenunterhaltung in Rom, Italien. Im Tal zwischen den Hügeln Aventin und Palatin gelegen, war es das erste und größte Stadion im antiken Rom und seinem späteren Reich.

Our driver Stefano was prompt, courteous, and accommodated every request we had! He used his knowledge of the city and sites that we wanted to visit to make our day easy and fun. We were able to tour all the basilicas we wanted and go through the Holy Doors for the Jubilee year. Even though we were hampered by a foot injury, Stefano found a way to easily get us into every site with minimal difficulty. We were so very well cared for - it was an exceptional experience. Stefano found us a charming restaurant to eat before returning to our hotel at the airport. He also made time to help us with some personal errands! Best insider tour of the most interesting historical Christian sites in Rome. The Church of Domine Quo Vadis was something that we would have missed, and it was amazing - the story of St. Peter told in one tiny church and even a sculpture by Michelangelo. Also the Villa of the Roman emperor Maxentius where we saw the emperor’s private version of the Circus Maximus.
