Wir werden zum Schlachtfeld von Culloden reisen, wo die Jakobiten im Aufstand von 1946 so manche Seele verloren haben. Dies war die letzte Schlacht, die auf britischem Boden ausgetragen wurde. Wenn es die Zeit erlaubt, geben wir den Gästen die Möglichkeit, auf dem Schlachtfeld zu spazieren. Je nach Tour können wir nicht anhalten, sondern fahren einfach vorbei.
Nach einem halbstündigen Besuch in Clava Cairns sehen wir uns um die Ecke und sehen den berühmten Culloden- oder Nairn-Viadukt, der von Murdoch Paterson entworfen und 1898 als Eisenbahnübergang eröffnet wurde.
Cawdor Castle ist ein bewohntes Schloss, über das in Shakespear's MacBeth geschrieben steht, wenn er sich auf Thane of Cawdor und die Vorhersage bezieht. Es hat spektakuläre Gärten und geführte Audio-Touren in Ihrer eigenen Sprache.
Fahren Sie in die Stadt, um einzukaufen oder die historischen Kirchen und Straßen zu besichtigen. Die Dauer dieses Stopps kann zwischen 30 und 90 Minuten variieren.
Wir verlassen das Urquhart Castle gegen 14:00-14:30 Uhr und fahren über eine malerische Route nach Beauly, wo wir am historischen Priorat vorbeifahren, das heute eine Ruine ist und 1230 von einem wenig bekannten französischen Mönchsorden erbaut wurde. Es ist auch der Ort, an dem Claire, die aus Outlander bekannt ist, Mairi getroffen haben soll. Es ist die wahre Grabstätte der Häuptlinge des Clans Fraser, mit dem die fiktive Figur aus Outlander, Jamie Fraser, verwandt ist. Wenn die Zeit es erlaubt, werden wir anhalten.
Auf der Weiterfahrt durch die Stadt Inverness passieren wir das historische Rathaus und das Inverness Castle. Es gibt Fotogelegenheiten für das Schloss und die Kathedrale von Inverness. Wir fahren über den River Ness zum Loch Ness, wo Sie darauf gefasst sein müssen, unsere Legende Nessie, das Ungeheuer von Loch Ness, zu erspähen. Genießen Sie die gemütliche Fahrt am Loch Ness, die nur etwa 30 Minuten dauert, und halten Sie Ausschau nach Nessie selbst. Die letzte berühmte Sichtung liegt einige Jahrzehnte zurück, aber wir hoffen, dass sie bald wieder fotografiert wird. Die Landschaft ist unvergleichlich, also halten Sie Ihre Kameras bereit. In den letzten Monaten kursierten im Internet Videoaufnahmen eines Nessie ähnlichen Tieres, das im Loch Ness spielt. Was an excellent trip except for the fact that the tour guide brought up politics repeatedly. Went as far to say I don’t like the orange man. Don’t care what side of the isle you’re on, I’m on vacation and a tour of Scotland, keep politics out of it. I want to know historical facts not your opinion.
Had a marvelous time. Mo was fantastic. She’s knowledgeable, humorous, great stories. She’s the kind of person that makes you wanna come back!

We spent our short time on land docked in Invergordon with Mo and Jordan leading us on a bus all over Inverness to see the main sites. Mo is an expert on all things local! I only wish two things… 1. That we had more time at Culloden and Loch Ness and 2. That we had been able to see the Clava Cairns. I might have booked a slightly different tour had I known that was out due to bus access. So know that before you book- FYI. Otherwise a great day with lucky sunny Scottish weather!

Great Tour. Easy access from cruise ship. Our tour guide did a great job. My personal favorite was the Cawdor Castle and gardens. I could have spent more time there.

This was a great excursion. We got picked up from the port. Danny, our driver and tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided history of all the area we visited or passed by. He manages our time well. We didn't feel rushed. As a matter of fact because there were just 6 of us in the minivan (plenty of room) we even have extra time to walk around the beautiful city of Inverness to eat and shop. We got to see the Highland cows at Robinson's farm, which was awesome! Loch Ness was a sight to behold! The view was spectacular. The water is clear, however we didn't see " Nessie". Next stopped was the historical Culloden battlefield, we walked around the field and even have time to have lunch afterwards. Then off to Clava Cairns to see the ancient standing stone and burial cairns. Afterwards we went for a self guided tour of Cawdor Castle , we were provided with an audio device to listen to while walking inside the castle. The castle gardens are beautiful and well maintained. We had an enjoyable drive through out the beautiful countryside . Thank you Danny. No boring moment. This was one of our best Scotland excursion. I highly recommend this tour. And of course we got back to our ship with plenty of time to spare!

New, clean comfortable bus driven excellently by our driver Jordan. Moe our tour guide provided historic-information at each of the sites we visited in Inverness and surrounding towns. Cawdor castle was a delight and comfortable trek. Many thanks to Moe to quick wit and vast information.
