Das Cape Coast Castle ist eines der größten noch bestehenden Schlösser in Ghana, das von europäischen Streitkräften erbaut wurde. An einem Teil der Goldküste, der später als Cape Coast bekannt wurde, begann alles mit dem Bau einer portugiesischen Handelshütte 1555. Die Schwedische Afrika-Kompanie baute 1653 eine dauerhafte Holzfestung, um den Handel mit Gold und Holz zu erleichtern, nachdem Schweden die Kapküste erobert hatte. Das Regionalbüro des Ghana Museums and Monuments Board befindet sich dort und ist derzeit ein historisches Museum mit einem Geschenkeladen, der ghanaisches Kunsthandwerk verkauft.
Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine) war der Name, den die Portugiesen Elmina Castle 1482 gaben, als sie es in Elmina, Ghana (ehemals Gold Coast) errichteten. Ghanas meistbesuchte Sehenswürdigkeit, versteckt im Kakum-Regenwald, ist der erstaunliche Canopy-Weg, der 40 m über dem Boden aufgehängt ist und eine faszinierende und schöne Perspektive auf den Wald und die Tierwelt bietet.

I think this tour was one of the best ever, first off I had an amazing tour guide Patrick, he was so informative and amazing throughout the whole tour. Cape coast and Elmina castle was an incredible experience and Kakum national park was icing on the cake 👌🏾

Whole experience was amazing. Was able to book last minute the day before. It is worth every penny and more affordable than me booking a private car plus admission fees, to take me to Cape Coast. Received pick up location the night before. The driver was friendly. The journey was around 4 hours from Accra but the car was very comfortable with aircon. Cape Coast castle was quite emotional for me. Wish I had more time as the tour was only 45mins but Elina Castle tour was slightly longer with more time to explore the castle and pay my respects to my ancestors. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. Pre-ordered lunch before arriving at Kakum National Park which was ready when we arrived. Lots of walking and step steps but that made the experience more enjoyable. The canopy walk was breathtaking, though I didn't look down.

Wow, what an impactful experience. I booked this because I wanted to go on the canopy tour, but the Cape Coast Castle will stay with me forever - reading and watching videos does not compare to being in the dungeons and walking the grounds. Additionally, I met a new friend and learned all about Singapore during the long drive, which our guide was very efficient and safe with.

Great tour experience! The journey was long due to traffic and bumpy road conditions, however our driver was very professional and got us to the location fast. The tours itself were very eye-opening. The only downside was that our lunch was at 4pm, but that was because of traffic, so I don’t blame that on the tour company.

We had an excellent time doing this tour. We found visiting the castles impactful and moving. It is an experience that we won’t forget. Doing the canopy walk was a great time. It’s beautiful to be so immersed in nature. I could’ve have done 10 more bridges! It’s a long drive both ways so I suggest to pack a snack.

This tour was captivating and educational to those that are unaware of what our ancestors had to endure. The ride to the location there and back took a few hours but we were prepared for that ahead of time due to reading others comments. Patrick our tour guide was fantastic as well. He answered any and all questions we had. I would definitely recommend this tour to any who comes to Accra.

We had an amazing day out with Emmanuel as our guide who couldn't have been better. The castles and the tree top walk were great, very interesting with lots of history to take in. Emmanuel did a brilliant job of getting us there despite the many issues he had with the roads and traffic etc. He is hands down, the best driver we've ever met, very calm and also told us lots about life in Ghana and the places we were driving through. Lunch was good, reasonably priced and the journey was very comfortable. Highly recommend!
