Die Sammlungen des Museums für Archäologie und Anthropologie zählen mehr als 800.000 Objekte von herausragendem Forschungs- und historischem Wert. Darüber hinaus befinden sich über 100.000 Feldfotos und Negative im Photographischen Archiv und über 30.000 historische Dokumentararchive.
Die Sammlung des Whipple Museums umfasst wissenschaftliche Instrumente, Apparate, Modelle, Bilder, Drucke, Fotografien, Bücher und anderes Material zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte.
Das Pitt Building wurde 1833 erbaut. Benannt wurde es nach William Pitt dem Jüngeren, der im späten 18. und frühen 19. Jahrhundert Premierminister Großbritanniens war.
Das Fitzwilliam Museum ist ein neoklassizistisches Gebäude, das 1848 fertiggestellt wurde. Es hat eine imposante Fassade mit prächtigen Säulen, die an antike griechische und römische Tempel erinnern, einer majestätischen Kuppel und prächtigen Löwenstatuen auf beiden Seiten des Eingangs.
Scudamore's Punting Company wurde 1910 von Jack Scudamore gegründet. Jack war ein Bootsbauer, der die königliche Regatta von Henley Upon Thames besuchte und sah, dass das Lochen bei der Oberschicht und der Mittelschicht beliebt war. Hören Sie hier seine Geschichte.

Die King's College Chapel ist eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen in Cambridge. Der Ort war ursprünglich die Überschwemmungsebene des Flusses Cam und später mittelalterliche Gebäude.
Die Kirche der Heiligen Maria der Großen, oft einfach als "St Mary's" bezeichnet, stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, obwohl das heutige Gebäude größtenteils aus dem späten 15. und frühen 16. Jahrhundert stammt.
Der Market Square befindet sich im Herzen von Cambridges Stadtzentrum neben der historischen Guildhall. Auf dem Platz befindet sich einer der ältesten und größten Märkte unter freiem Himmel des Landes.
Trinity College wurde 1546 von König Heinrich dem VIII. gegründet und ist das größte College in Cambridge sowohl nach Landfläche als auch Studentenschaft.
Die Rundkirche, offiziell als Grabeskirche bekannt, wurde 1130 von Kreuzfahrern gegründet, die aus dem Heiligen Land zurückgekehrt waren.
Das Senatshaus ist ein Beispiel neoklassizistischer Architektur. Es wurde vom Architekten James Gibbs entworfen und 1730 fertiggestellt.
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt liegt die Oberfläche des Flusses Cam nur 4 m über dem Meeresspiegel und das Flussbett nur etwa 2 m über dem Meeresspiegel. Die Küste selbst liegt fast 50 Meilen entfernt bei King's Lynn.
Es ist ein relativ neues Gebäude aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert, aber es gibt einige schöne Merkmale in der inneren Architektur.

I thought this walk was very good value. I was looking to book on a 60-90 minute in person guided walk, but the times didn’t quite work out, so I thought I’d give this one a go. I thought it was excellent. Unlike a guided walk with an individual guide, I could take my time when particular things interested me, and there wasn’t the issue of not being able to hear the guide, as sometimes happens with large groups. The thing I really liked which I hadn’t appreciated when I purchased it, was that I could do the walk over several days. It is quite long, and it would probably have taken me three hours to do it all in one go, so I actually did it over three days in short spells of time, which worked really well for me. The narrations were informative, and I definitely discovered things that there’s no way I would’ve found wandering around Cambridge by myself.
What a thoughtful review, Cameron — thank you! You've put your finger on the things we love most about self-guided: no straining to hear a guide in a crowd, time to linger wherever something catches you, and the freedom to spread a longer walk across several days (Cambridge in three short spells sounds perfect). The download was informative but a little lacking. Was hoping for a bit more info on each site and maybe add a few more sites. Also was frustrating that (within the app) if you try to plan your route to the next site it will stop and reset the audio description of the current site.

This was a great audio tour, which did over a weekend stay in Cambridge. The route was great - covering the main sites, plus a few others wer might not have seen otherwise. The interesting information at each site covered the main points, and some of the backstory. We enjoyed going at our own pace, and being able to stop or detour as wanted. We were glad we picked up this tour - it was good value for money as well.

We did the Cambridge Walking Tour Guide and if you're reading the reviews to decide if you should download it, just do it. It was brilliant. Although we had the option to use the audio version, we actually used the text one. We could take our time, the app pings you when to stop and read, the information is really interesting and nicely written, it's all nicely paced. And for that price, we considered it excellent value. We've done a couple of these tours now, so when we go away I always check to see if one is available! This tour, like the others, is so easy to follow. We can do these at our own pace, and there are useful stop off points for nice places for a snack. It was so well thought through, and flowed perfectly. I would honestly recommend this tour to anyone - I feel like I saw all the sights and learnt so much more than without the expertise of this tour.
