The best panoramic view with some contrasts The cable car ride through Cerro San Cristóbal in Parquemet is, considering its cost, one of the best options to appreciate Santiago in its entirety. In our case, we did the trip going up from the Pedro de Valdivia station to the summit, with the idea of getting off at the intermediate Tupahue station. * The summit: At the top is the sanctuary with the image of the Virgin, a very pretty chapel, a summarized stations of the cross (of 3 or 4 stations), and an area with crosses like a cemetery. * The view and the surroundings: It offers a great panoramic view of the city, although the layer of smog usually reduces the clarity. From the height, the contrast between touristy Santiago and the rest of the city is perceived very well. You have to go physically prepared, since it requires walking quite a bit and climbing many stairs. * Tupahue station: We had planned to make a stop at the intermediate station, but we decided to skip it due to fatigue and because from above it looked like an area without particular attractions and with a certain lack of maintenance. * Useful tip: It is advisable to buy water or other supplies outside the venue, since inside the prices are notably higher.
