Stephan was an excellent guide. Saw and learned so much more than just the Christmas markets. Definitely recommend
We had a lovely afternoon discovering the Christmas markets with Zsuzsa. She gave us tips on which food we should try and which ones are prepared in the traditional or classic manner. She also gave us tips on where to buy the best pastries in town and introduced us to the section of the road where every winning "Hungarian wine of the year" is lined up. We also got the chance to try mulled wine and hot tea and we love them. They warm the stomach which helps with the freezing temperature at night.
I can't say enough great things about Katlin Boldizsar, owner and operator of Wonderguides. I almost did not show uo because I was tired of the Christmas markets after arriving from Vienna the day before. This tour was SO much more than a Christmas market tour. Katlain gave me an extensive history inside the St. Stephans Basilica. This is beautiful structure with so much history. She has a history degree, and her grandmother taught history. I'm a history buff and she loaded me with all the history that I could absorb. We did some tastings in the Christmas market and did some more exploring in the city. I highly recommend Katalin and her company for any of your travel needs in Budapest!!!
My guide was great. I was the only person and honestly if you know where to look you can explore the different markets on your own though this tour also includes a tour of st Stephen’s basilica as there is a large market nearby. That alone is worthwhile addition. Learned about the local traditions and the town. Exploring at night is a must do. Sampled chimney cake - knowing where to go is key and other treats.
I had am amazing time thanks to your guide Katalin was the best guide I have ever had her knowledge was exceptional and the way she looked after me I will be highly recommend to others to do this tour thanks to her
Absolutely incredible tour with our guide Zsuzanna . she was knowledgeable , thoughtful and a fun loving guide. She made sure we learned about St Stephen’s church and the history of the area . We also had a magical experience at the beautiful Christmas at the Bacilica Market and Vovosmarty Square Market which were both fantastic .? Our guide introduced us the local street foods Chimmney cakes, Langos, and mulled wine. All very tasty! When in Budapest we will always ask fo Zsuzanna. thank u for one the best tours ever. Perfect way to start our trip! Thank u Zsuzamna
The tour guide was great. She did her very best but the Christmas Market was extremely crowded so we couldn't enjoy it as much as we hoped. She was very accommodating and knowledgable. The light show on the St. Steven's Basilica was a pleasant surprise.
Not only did we get a tour of the market and explanation of the goods there, we also got some information about local sites and statues. I learned so much from this tour!
This was a great tour with Katalin. It was educational and fun…two of my favorite things. She was also very responsive to my unique interests. I learned a lot about Hungary, its history, and its people all while enjoying the Christmas market atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Dear Travelchaos3, It was such a fun and memorable experience to guide you through the Christmas colors and night lights of Budapest. Thank you very much for your review. May you have a fabulous 2022! Kind regards, Katalin
Susan was an excellent guide. She knew many of the facts about Budapest that only a trained local would know. She brought us through Christmas market, stopped for warm wine and cinnamon buns and showed us many of the antique buildings that were abandoned during the communist period - one that is worth seeing is currently the Four Seasons. She dropped us off at her favorite restaurant which was a Hungarian place called The Strudel. Highly recommend. Great time
Dear Scott! Thank you very much for your review, recalling nice memories from Christmas! I will never forget the moment when we were at the Vörösmarty square eating the huge chimney cake (kürtőskalács), it disappeared in less than a minute, I felt like I was your mother, my heart melted seeing how you liked it! Happy to hear that you liked the restaurant as well! I hope to see you again one day, maybe in a different season of the year, it was really a pleasure to show you around the city! Muchas gracias, un abrazo grande a la familia: Zsuzsa
