Mit unserem erfahrenen und lizenzierten Reiseleiter beginnen wir mit einem kurzen Einführungsgespräch über das Trinity College und seine Geschichte ab 1592....dann begeben wir uns auf den Universitätscampus.
Am Trinity College besuchen wir das Buch von Kells, ein illuminiertes Manuskriptevangeliumsbuch, das im neunten Jahrhundert entstand. Es gilt als einer der größten kulturellen Schätze Irlands und gilt weithin als Beispiel für insulare Kunst. Das Buch ist ein Meisterwerk der mittelalterlichen Buchmacherei und enthält komplizierte Designs, aufwendige Schriftzüge und farbenfrohe Illustrationen. Es besteht aus vier Evangelien: Matthäus, Markus, Lukas und Johannes, und ist in Latein geschrieben. Das Book of Kells befindet sich in der Trinity College Library in Dublin, Irland, wo es jedes Jahr von Millionen von Besuchern gesehen wird.
Wir stehen draußen und passieren die Bank of Ireland am College Green für ein früheres und vielleicht nobleres Beispiel für Umnutzung im Stadtgebäude. Auf der Verkehrsinsel am College Green zu stehen und nach oben zu schauen, ist schwer, sich nicht beeindrucken zu lassen. Sicherlich ist dies die größte Bank, die Sie je gesehen haben. Es gibt ein königliches Wappen. Statuen von Hibernia (der lateinische Name für Irland), Treue und Handel. Und ebenerdig ein paar Kanonen. Oh, und eine Wachbox. Sie alle sind Hinweise auf die frühere Rolle dieses Gebäudes, weil es in den ersten 61 Jahren seines Lebens die Heimat der irischen Parlamentshäuser war. 1800 jedoch stimmte sich das irische Parlament selbst aus und 1803 wurde sein ehemaliges Gebäude zur Vorzeigefiliale der Bank of Ireland. Es hatte eine erstaunliche Geschichte während jener Zeiten der Kolonisierung und Rebellion. Das Gebäude war das erste eigens errichtete Zweikammerhaus des Parlaments in Europa („Zweikammer“ bedeutet, es hatte zwei „Kammern“: ein Unterhaus und ein Oberhaus.)
Ein letztes Geschichtsgespräch von Dublin - 'Through The Ages' zu The Molly Malone Statue befindet sich nicht weit von dem Ort, an dem Sie am College Green und Trinity College begonnen haben. Molly Malone war eine halb historische, halblegendäre Figur, der in dem Lied 'Cockles and Mussels', einer Dublin-Hymne, gedacht wurde. Eine tolle Gelegenheit für Fotos von Ihrem Besuch.

Our guide was very kind. We knew it was all walking, and my husband can handle that but we stopped for long periods and just stood at most places, with no where to sit or move much. My husband made it but had we been able to sit anywhere at the talking points it would have been so much easier. No regrets we went. We did see and learn lots, but with my husband's back we just could have used more places to sit as we listened. With those without those limitations we certainly recommend this tour.

We went on a tour with Noel and had an excellent experience. Noel was kind, knowledgeable, and funny! He made the entire experience enjoyable, included everyone in our group (we had 3 separate groups of tourists) and provided us all with a great summary of Dublin's history and key sites. The tour was a bit longer than we anticipated, so bring water, but it was well worth it. We would recommend Noel's tour group to anyone.
Marty our guide was amazing!!! It was a very small group, 4 of us total and that’s what he specializes in! We felt like family he was taking to tour his home town. So very knowledgeable and enthusiastic it made our day so fun! My mom of 81 was with us and he was very aware of walking speeds. Such a great time I would recommend this tour versus the larger group tours. 10 out of 10!!!
