Had a great day in Bruny Island, thanks to the friendly and informative guide, Jimmy and nice, friendly tour mates and a 5 year old buzzing-bee kid. Perfect for solo (like me), with friends or family. Bruny Island experience is a must and this particular tour allows you the option of choosing your own tasting experience that suits your palette. The guide even rewarded us with ride back to our hotels, all 12 of us. Beautiful, beautiful island, love it!
We had such a great day on Bruny Island, and Nigel was a huge part of what made the tour so memorable. The best way I can describe him is that it felt less like being on a generic guided tour and more like having a cool uncle drive you around the island showing you all of his favorite places. He was incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and genuinely seemed to love sharing Bruny Island with us. This is definitely more of a nature, wildlife, sightseeing and history-focused tour than a food tour. If your main goal is spending lots of time tasting cheese, oysters, wine, etc., there are other all-inclusive tours that focus more heavily on those experiences. For us, the balance was perfect because we really wanted to see and learn about the island itself. The Cape Bruny Lighthouse was one of the highlights. The wind at the top was absolutely insane, which somehow made the experience even more fun, and the lighthouse guide was extremely knowledgeable. We loved learning about the history of the lighthouse and the people who lived and worked there. Truganini Lookout at The Neck was another beautiful stop. Nigel did a great job explaining the cultural significance of the area before we arrived, as well as setting expectations about the penguins and seabirds that live around The Neck. The views were spectacular. One of my favorite things about the day was how much effort Nigel put into helping us spot wildlife. We saw the famous white wallabies, pademelons and what felt like at least 15 different species of birds. He wasn't simply pointing animals out either. He taught us about what we were seeing and was constantly keeping an eye out as we drove around the island. We also really enjoyed Bruny Island Honey and learning about the family-run business. We ended up buying a ridiculous amount of honey, so clearly their sales strategy worked on us! The stop at Bruny Island Chocolate Company was fine, although it was a little strange that there weren't any samples. I probably would have bought more chocolate if I'd actually been able to try some first. Toward the end of the day we stopped at Bruny Island Cheese Co. We had about 30 minutes there, so it did feel a little rushed. We were able to try a few wines and had the smoked wallaby, which was really good, but there wasn't much time to learn about or explore the cheeses themselves. Our final stop was Get Shucked Oysters, and I actually really liked having this as the last stop of the day. Again, around 30 minutes went quickly and it felt a little rushed, but it was still a fun way to finish the island portion of the tour before heading back to Hobart. Overall, this was a fantastic day and I would absolutely recommend it, especially for nature lovers, wildlife lovers and history buffs. Nigel was wonderful and really made the experience. If cheese and oysters are the main reason you're visiting Bruny, I'd probably spend the extra money on one of the food-focused all-inclusive tours. But if you want to actually explore Bruny Island, see its wildlife, learn some history, visit the lighthouse and still get a taste of the local producers along the way, this tour is a great choice.
Phil was an absolutely fantastic tour guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny and made the entire day so enjoyable. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and the whole day ran so smoothly from start to finish. His personality and stories made the experience truly memorable, and it’s a day we’ll be talking about for years to come. Highly recommend!
Excellent experience. Dave, our guide, was excellent. Very friendly, built rapport with both the tourist group and the Bruny Island businesses. This builds trust between the tourist group and the local community. Trust is crucial for both the tourists and the local people and businesses. Dave’s exceptional service and rapport built and added to that trust. Bruny Island is a beautiful island with talented people and businesses which the tour really highlighted. All aspects of Dave’s service were exemplary. Have already recommended tour to interstate family. Please also note, that all local businesses on Bruny Island were likewise exceptional in both products provided and customer services. This includes the SeaLink ferry service, Oyster business, honey business, cheese business, chocolate business, bread in fridge business, and the Bruny Island pub.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave Dave and us a review, we really appreciate it! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels in Tasmania. Warm regards, Jess Bruny Island Safaris
This is our first time in Hobart and Bruny Island, We've had a fantastic experience. Our driver and guide Rob is a very knowledgeable and hilarious man, he arrived on time to pick us up from a nearby hotel, and he is even kind enough to take us back directly to the AirBnb. During the trip he prepared delicious cheese and fresh oysters for morning tea and delivered many interesting comments on local cultures, foods and agricultural related knowledges. Thanks Rob. The trip itself is also very well organised and well paced. They can pick you up if you're staying in one of their 40 pick up hotels, or you can walk to a near by hotel where they would stop to pick you up. Considering the size of Hobart, it shouldn't be too far away wherever you're staying. The trip also isn't super rushy, you've got time to relax, have some great food, even some delicious berries picked up by the roads if you're in season. The only thing I'd note is that there's a fair bit of steps to climb up, so if you're unsuitable for climbing up stairs, you should seek advice before you attend this trip. Overall I've had a blast in this trip and would defiantly recommend this to others!
Thank you for your "Great trip" review and recommendation. Some great advice for everyone... Don't let the steps at the Neck or Cape Bruny deter you from booking as we have alternatives and different platform levels for those that would prefer not to go all the way. The Neck Lookout has several different platforms to view from and easy (New) steps to climb. There is even a fully decked walkway (No steps) all the way to the beach. The Cape Bruny Lighthouse tour also has a museum to explore for those that would prefer not to walk the 5 minutes up the hill. The views across Lighthouse Beach and the sea cliff coastlines are stunning and will keep you visually content until the rest of the group come back down from the Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tour. The foods and sights are simply stunning! And our guides are exceptionally passionate about Bruny Island. Kind Regards Team Bruny Island Safaris Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tours
This was a full day from sunrise to sunset. Our tour guide, Phil, went above and beyond and the day is packed with tastings of oysters, cheeses, chocolates, honey, cider and a fabulous sit down lunch of your choice on the menu! You won’t want for anything and just let Phil do all the work whilst you sit back and relax and watch the wonders of Bruny Island unfold in front of you. The lighthouse tour, beachside morning tea, the ferry ride, wildlife spotting...! It’s the best day out ever you’ll have!!
Thanks Rob for a great tour. All the places we visited were excellent. The surrounding views of land and sea were great. Top day. The lighthouse tour thanks to Adams thoughtful care was also great. All in all i had a great day.
