Nach Ihrer Abholung von Ihrem Hotel fahren wir zum 1808 gegründeten Botanischen Garten, dessen Sammlung 9000 Proben von 1500 Arten umfasst. Das JBRJ ist berühmt für den Überschwang und die wissenschaftliche Bedeutung seiner Pflanzensammlungen sowie für die Schönheit seiner Landschaften. Seine zweihundertjährige Geschichte drückt sich in seinen Denkmälern, Gebäuden und Kunstwerken aus. Zu Fuß oder mit dem Elektrowagen können die Besucher durch die Gassen schlendern und Pflanzen aus verschiedenen Teilen der Welt sehen, die Gewächshäuser (Orchideen, Bromelien, Farne, insektenfressende Pflanzen) und thematische Gärten und Sammlungen wie den Japanischen Garten und den Heilgarten besuchen Pflanzen.
Nach dem Besuch des Botanischen Gartens fahren wir zum Parque Lage, der aus einer alten Zuckermühle stammt, der Park ist Teil des historischen Gedächtnisses der Stadt. Der schöne romantische Garten im europäischen Stil wurde 1840 vom englischen Landschaftsgärtner John Tyndale entworfen und teilt sich das Rampenlicht mit dem einheimischen Atlantischen Regenwald. Bemerkenswert sind auch die kaiserlichen Palmen, die künstlichen Seen und Inseln sowie die im Park verstreuten Höhlen und die in die Wände eingelassenen Aquarien mit verschiedenen Fischen. Im Hauptgebäude befindet sich der Platz, eine Jahrhundertvilla. XIX, betreibt die School of Visual Arts des Parque Lage (EAV) und das Bistro Plage bietet ein köstliches Frühstück, Mittag- und Abendessen mit Bio-Produkten, die neben den Kunst- und Musikveranstaltungen genossen werden können, die das ganze Jahr über vor Ort stattfinden.

The gardens are not small. Be prepared to walk and learn some fascinating facts about the history of Brazil. She also helped us decide on lunch and dinner for the next few days from the perspective of a local. 10/10

This is actually the second experience I booked with Renata. I did the Christ the Redeemer with her last year and knew when I got back to Rio that I'd need more photos. I contacted her and asked her to do the Parque Lage and Botanical garden tour WITH the Selaron steps and she accommodated me. The photos are stunning! But more than that, she knew the history around each place and was great company. I feel super comfortable with her and will likely be doing more photo tours with her on future trips to Rio. Renata, the tout guide and photographer is wonderful. She related the historical and cultural significance of the Park Lagre and the Botanical Gardens in an entertaining way. Renata is phenomenal!!!!! She is extremely professional with an awesome sense of humour and is extremely knowledgeable! My husband and I enjoyed touring Parque Lage and the botanical gardens with her and she provided us with beautiful pictures after. It felt like a friend was taking you around Rio and making sure you have gorgeous pictures also. Highly recommend Renata!!!! The Botanical Gardens and Lage Park are a must for anyone visiting Rio. We were very impressed by the natural beauty existing in the heart of the city and will never forget the superb flora and astonishing wild life (monkeys, tucans, turtles and many more). We highly appreciate Renata's efforts to make the tour as pleasant as possible and value the comprehensive information she provided on the history of Brazil, Rio's landscapes and the interesting sites we visited: the Botanical Gardens and Lage Park.
