Borobudur-Sonnenaufgang vom Setumbu-Hügel, Merapi-Vulkan und Prambanan-Ganztagestour

Dani was an incredible guide. Communication was perfect and he turned up when expected. Dani worked so hard - we were out for 14 hours and he was always very friendly and helpful. After the early morning sunrise, we headed to a Buddhist monastery where he proved to be a knowledgable guide. We loved every part of the day and Dani made everything run smoothly. Both Borobudur and Pralamban are incredible buildings and definitely places I would love to revisit. The Jeep drive across Merapi was a huge hit with my children and they loved when our driver sped through a river in the 4x4 (he explained that there were other available options if we didn’t want to get wet). Lunch was delicious and the restaurant staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Would highly recommended.

Great day out seeing some amazing Indonesian gems. Great comms with organisers and we actually tuned the day to our needs as one of us was a little ill Maxi the driver was superb and looked after us with 5* treatment from pickup to drop off Could only be improved by seeing some active lava, but you just have to be lucky to visit during an active event. Evening tour would be better for that anyway

Nice tour (total >10 hours) with our friendly guide Dani. Saw lots of temples, drank Kopi Lowak and went closer to the Merapi vulcano.

Good morning hike up to the hill. We were not lucky as it was foggy day, but can get a feel and picture of “being above the cloud”. The temples simply breathtaking and the Merapi tour reminded us of our frail humanity and the nobel sacrifice of volunteers who tried to bring people to safety.

This was a great private tour! Communication from the start was excellent on WhatsApp (from the office and my guide Maxi). Maxi arrived on time (even a little early) at my hotel at 4am. Our day ended 13 hours later with a return to my hotel. Maxi was a great guide. He never rushed me, he is a careful driver and always had something interesting to say about the places we visited. I can highly recommend him and this tour. I took the sunrise tour from the hill – but in hindsight, I may have preferred the sunrise tour from the temple better. My bad! We arrived at the temple a bit before opening which allowed Maxi to give me a pre tour (which was very nice) and take some uncrowded pictures. The temple tour had a bit too much talking and information from the guide for me, but I was able to get some beautiful pictures. Maxi made sure to select the best driver for me on the jeep tour. His name is Fanny, and he is awesome! Aside from a great drive, we had some very interesting conversations. We took a wonderful lunch break, and Maxi even allowed me to share some of his meal so I could sample more local delicacies. We covered our last temple at a nice relaxed pace. Maxi always knew the best locations for the best photos – which I really appreciated! Maxi, thank you for a wonderful tour and a great day together.

This tour is amazing. the whole day is filled with great experiences. The sunrise at Borobudur is an enlightening experience. My Guide Seta has exceptional knowledge of history of area.

What a fantastic day we’ve had on this trip. So easy to arrange, great communication with our guide Maxi the day before, which was welcome as we were staying outside the pick-up range and needed an earlier start time. He really put our minds at rest. Very well organised throughout, and even though unfortunately we didn’t get a good sunrise at Borobudur, honestly the tour around the site was superb and more than made up for it. It’s been non-stop adventure! Maxi had excellent English and was happy to answer all our many questions about the trip, culture, religion and life in Indonesia- we have not stopped learning today!! He really made us feel welcome and well taken care of- plenty of stops for photos, toilets, and information, all delivered with a huge smile and friendly manner. It was an amazing experience. Got to see mount merapi, borobudur temple, and prambanan temple. Special shoutout to our driver Mr. Himawan. He is knowledgeable and goes the extra miles arranged the tours well with guides as well for the prambanan along with recommended restaurants and spot to stop for snacks. Would recommend highly.

Fery was a really excellent guide and was so pleasant to spend the day with. You can ask him anything at all and he will have information for you. As a guide driver hybrid, he will not always accompany you at all of the stops but it is nice to have alone time over the course of such a long day. We started by viewing the sunrise between two volcanoes (one of them being Merapi) with borobudor in the far distance. Borobudor may look as small as a thumbtack from that location, but it will be quite a site to behold up close. Before heading to Borobudor we stopped at a monstery which was really tranquil and Fery decribed the story of Buddha's life to us while showing us the accompanying engravings. The peacefulness of that space so early in the morning was one of my favorite parts. At borobudor you must change into provided sandals to help protect the structure and you will be appointed a guide who takes you with a small group. The climb can have some larger and steeper steps but is overall easy and they will provide you with a small water. The sun will be unrelenting and it is a must to have spf and sunglasses and loose clothing. Some people will be selling uv umbrellas but a hat should be sufficient. The jeep excursion to view mount merapi is in the afternoon where it will likely be obscures by cloud cover. It is usually only clear in the early mornings. It was fascinating to see a home and its contents affected by hot steam from an eruption and important to talk about the devastation that comes with large scale eruptions. We were then given a choice to go see a no longer usable bunker or have an off roading experience with some water involved and we opted for the bunker. Overall the visit to Merapi seemed commercialized but our driver for the jeep was excellent and earnestly wanted to make sure we were enjoying things. We stopped to get lunch near prambanan after and were seated with a nice river view. Prambanan was quite stunning and Fery was our guide for this portion of the trip as we decided not to hire a local guide. He described everything perfectly and gave us as much information as we needed. Entering the temples is quite crowded and the heat gets trapped in the chambers, but lines move quickly. The sun set was really lovely and a great way to end the day. While speaking to Fery, he knew that I had an interest in the traditional puppets and he made a point of finding puppets for me to look at and really made the tour feel personal.

Had a great time looking at the 2 temple complexes with a short 4x4 trip in the middle. Special mention to Matthias, he was very friendly, arrived early and incredibly knowledgeable about the temples and gave us lots of tips and advice for the rest of our holiday in Indonesia! Would recommend.
