Auf dem Land von Ægissíða wurden von Hella an der Südküste Islands zwölf antike von Menschen geschaffene Höhlen entdeckt. Fünf von ihnen waren nun auf unseren Führungen der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Die historische Stätte ist Islands älteste noch erhaltene archäologische Überreste, einige glauben, dass die Höhlen noch weiter zurückreichen als die Siedlung der nordischen Wikinger. Zu den Wundern der Höhlen von Hella gehören antike Kreuze, Wandschnitzereien und geschnitzte Sitze. Mysterium umgibt die Höhlen und seit Jahrhunderten fragen sich die Menschen: Sind die Höhlen das Handwerk der Kelten? Waren die Höhlen ein Ort der alten Anbetung? Die Höhlen sind eine historische Sehenswürdigkeit, wo Sie über verborgene Geheimnisse und andere unerzählte Geschichten aus Islands Geschichte erfahren. Begleiten Sie einen unserer lokalen Guides, um die Geheimnisse unserer Höhlen zu entdecken und die magische Unterwelt des Südens zu erleben. Die Grotten befinden sich direkt neben der Route 1 (der Ringstraße), etwa eine Autostunde von Reykjavik entfernt.

This cave tour was really fun! Our guide was great and spent a lot of time providing information on the tour! Definitely worth a stop, especially if you’re interested in history and archaeology.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the history of Iceland. The tour was very informational and provided a lot of information as we went about our trip. The caves were a very cool sight to see and it's very easy to navigate.

Hanna was an incredible guide. We booked this tour last minute thinking it was just a “cave tour” but we honestly learned more about the history and people of Iceland from Hanna than we did from any other experience while visiting. My niece is a history teacher and she also loved it. Don’t pass this one by!

A fascinating experience that adds new information to the story of Iceland. As is often the case in life, things are more complicated than an initial view suggests. It is particularly interesting as the archeology is still developing and theories and discoveries are being developed and made right into the present. This was an enlightening look into the history and impact of the Irish on the ancient history of Iceland.

We had a very informative tour of the caves with our guide. He was very knowledgeable and offered a different perspective on early settlement in Iceland. The caves were pretty cool also. Would definitely recommend the tour.
