Belém ist eines der Exlibris der portugiesischen Hauptstadt, von wo aus die Seeleute des 16. Jahrhunderts ihre Reisen in die neue Welt begannen. Diese Tour beginnt mit einer Fahrt mit der Straßenbahn und beinhaltet Führungen zum Jerónimos-Kloster, zum Kutschenmuseum und zum Monument of Discovers (außen).

Das National Coach Museum vereint eine weltweit einzigartige Sammlung von Reisebussen. Vom 16. bis 19. Jahrhundert finden sich hier einige der ältesten Reisebusse der Welt.
Von der Unesco als Weltkulturerbe eingestuft. Das Jerónimos-Kloster ist eine der Errungenschaften der portugiesischen und europäischen Architektur seiner Zeit und bestätigt gleichzeitig die Einzigartigkeit seines eigenen künstlerischen Ausdrucks, der manuelinischen Architektur und seiner Inschrift auf dem internationalen gotischen Hinterhof. Dieses großartige religiöse Gebäude war historisch mit den frühen Seeleuten als Entdecker verbunden, weil von hier aus die portugiesischen Seefahrer ihre Reise in die neue Welt begannen.
Das 52 Meter hohe Denkmal für die Entdeckungen ist eine Hommage an alle Portugiesen, die an der großen Seereise des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts teilgenommen haben.
In der Konditorei von Belém können Sie das berühmteste Gebäck des Landes probieren. Das 1837 eingeweihte Gebäck von Belém wird jeden Tag nach einem alten Rezept aus dem Jerónimos-Kloster nachgebaut. Eines der großen kulinarischen Wunder Portugals ist das mit Zimt bestäubte Pastell von Nata (Puddingpastell) mit seiner schuppigen Kruste und dem cremigen Zentrum.

Half a day in the area of Bethlehem with a lot to appreciate and learn from the Alcides. Visit to the new museum of the Coches, priority entry to the pastels of Bethlehem and visit to the monastery of Jerónimos.
This is our First time to Portugal and Alcides was an Amazing tour guide. His knowledge of gothic and classical architecture, the names of the architects and the general knowledge of the city's history made the Belem experience one of the highlights of our Vacation. We also got VIP treatment at Pastéis de Belem and got to skip ahead in the line for pastries and coffee! The Coach Museum was also a unique experience and definitely worth the visit. I also rather enjoyed the trip back to the hotel through the narrow streets of Chiado. His maneuvering of the person passenger van was rather skillful and impressive! We are coming back through Lisbon at the end of our Vacation and may call Alcides to schedule a trip to Fatima and Nazaré. All in all a 5 star rating
Alcido our tour guide is fantastic. we board a tram so we truly experienced Lisbon! the cathedral is beautiful beyond words and he expertly described the details and history. The Belem pastry at Belem pasteria is excellent and part of our tour! Yummy. do not miss this! the Coach Museum with antigue carriage coaches is impressive - any car enthusiast and non-car enthusiast would love this museum.
