This booking price is for the guide (the entry ticket price you pay separately as explained in the description, just make sure you are aware). The tour guide was fully private, so it was only the two of us who booked the tour together with the guide, so plenty of opportunity to ask your own questions and go at your own pace. The tour guide, Muhammet, reached out personally to arrange the meeting location right before the tour. Before entering the Cistern, Muhammet gave a lot of great general history of Istanbul and the other surrounding main monuments in Sultanahmet while sitting for tea. So it you didn't get a chance to have a guide at the other monuments, this is a nice general coverage. Inside the cistern, it is very beautiful and interesting. They recently renovated so the walking platforms and lighting are all in good condition. Muhammet gave a nice balance of stopping to explain details at spots of interest while being able to walk and view at our own pace. The walkthrough the Cistern itself is fairly short but sweet, and when you include Muhammet's general Istanbul history at the beginning, the full your was was about an hour and 20 minutes.

Muhammet was a great tour guide. He was very thorough in explaining the history behind the blue mosque, The Hague Sophia and the basilica cistern, especially how they all came about and were connected. He took great pictures and was generous with our meeting place. Will highly recommend him to friends and family
