Gegenüber dem Viertel Vila Olímpica gelegen, wurde es 1990 im Zuge der Umgestaltung dieses Viertels von Barcelona erbaut. Der Yachthafen wurde von den Architekten Oriol Bohigas, Josep Martorell, David Mackay und Albert Puigdomènech entworfen. Die Stadt benötigte einen Sporthafen, der hohen Ansprüchen genügen sollte, und war Austragungsort der Segelwettbewerbe während der Olympischen Spiele 1992. Der Yachthafen verfügt über 756 Liegeplätze für Yachten und seine Einfahrt ist von überall in Barcelona sichtbar. Die beiden Wolkenkratzer auf beiden Seiten sind der Mapfre Tower und das Hotel Arts mit Frank Gehrys spektakulärer Goldfischskulptur an der Basis und in der Nähe das Gran Casino de Barcelona. Liebhaber von Wassersportarten können hier Yacht fahren oder andere Segeltechniken ausüben, und im Sommer sind die Strände auf beiden Seiten des Yachthafens – Somorrostro und Nova Icària – der perfekte Ort zum Sonnenbaden oder für ein kühlendes Bad im Meer.
Die Fischskulptur des Architekten Frank Gehry, der 1989 den Pritzker-Preis gewann, ist zu einem der Symbole des nacholympischen Barcelonas geworden und sieht aus, als würde sie auf den Gewässern des Mittelmeers mitschwingen. Das Sonnenlicht spiegelt sich in den Schuppen dieser Skulptur wider, die über der Uferpromenade des Olympischen Yachthafens und Barcelonas Stränden thront. 1992 verwandelte das unberührte Olympische Barcelona seine Strandpromenade. Eine neue Olympische Marina nahm Gestalt an, deren Zwillingstürme den Vorsitz führten. Auf der einen Seite stand der Mapfre Tower, auf der anderen das Hotel Arts. Frank Gehry stellte seine Fischskulptur am Fuße des Hotels auf. Das Tier ist 56 Meter lang und 35 Meter hoch und scheint sich danach zu sehnen, in das blaue Wasser des Mittelmeers zu springen.
Port Vell ist ein Hafen am Wasser in Barcelona, Katalonien, Spanien und Teil des Hafens von Barcelona. Es wurde im Rahmen eines Stadterneuerungsprogramms vor den Olympischen Spielen 1992 in Barcelona gebaut. Davor war es ein heruntergekommenes Areal mit leerstehenden Lagerhallen, Bahnhöfen und Fabriken. Es ist heute ein Brennpunkt der Stadt und Touristenattraktion, mit dem Maremàgnum (ein Einkaufszentrum mit Geschäften, einem Multiplex-Kino, Bars und Restaurants), IMAX Port Vell und Europas größtem Aquarium mit 8000 Fischen und 11 Haien in 22 Becken, die mit sechs Millionen Litern Meerwasser gefüllt sind. Ein Fußgängersteg, Rambla de Mar, verbindet La Rambla mit Port Vell Er verfügt über eine Drehbrücke, um Schiffen die Ein- und Ausfahrt in den Hafen zu ermöglichen

Unforgettable trip with the French captain Marie who knows Barcelona very well and was able to advise us for other cultural and tourist outings! The guitarist was at the top, he could play songs of his choice or ours, a treat! And a dive of the boat in the open sea for all those who wanted it was particularly appreciated by my whole family, really we recommend 100 percent! Thank you again.

This sunset sail with an amazing live guitar musician was just the highlight of our whole trip !!! The sea was gentle and the breeze just enough to set the sails and navigate away from the city to get the perfect views of the skyline of Barcelona. Amazing experience : very peaceful. The live music added the perfect touch of chill, excellent musician. Our captain Mary has been very nice and provided us explanations of the main sightseeings and some recomendation for going out. We really recommend this trip in music : don't miss it !!!

Unforgettable experience with Marie, an adorable French captain who knows Barcelona perfectly and was able to advise us for other visits! The excellent guitarist delighted us by playing songs at our request and others of his choice that perfectly matched the Mood of the sunset... icing on the cake, we were able to swim in the open sea by diving from the boat, really an outing that we recommend to all those who pass through Barcelona and want to experience something exceptional

We wanted for our wedding anniversary to take the sun , the sea, the sea, and we were delighted, Captain Marie from our arrival is very welcoming, smiling , bubbly, listening to our desires. It was great, we could ask the guitarist for the melodies, music we wanted. Purely awesome, especially at sunset with the guitar in the background, awesome. Captain Marie very discreet and always present, very pleasant, you can go with your eyes closed.
