The place: Wonderful, looks like a dream! The lagoon region, with views of the Salkantay mountain and the waterfalls, is spectacular. We took a sunny day with full view of Mount Humantay. As we arrived later, we took the most empty place, which was great for taking pictures and rest in peace. The Logistics and the Traject: The trip back and forth is quite exhausting, with very winding roads (asphalt and land). Currently, there is a slide on the road that requires an extra walk before starting the official trail. Problems with Operator and Altitude Alert: We closed a private tour and chose to leave at 7:00 (one of the booking options on Viator). The operator omitted that this choice would give us less track time. As the effort at more than 4,000 meters is brutal for those who are not acclimatized, the horse is indispensable for the climb. However, because we arrived late, the owners of the horses did not want to go up and charged us an abusive price (very above the standard). To close, there was an ugly fight with aggression between the locals and our guide at the end of the tour, which generated a very tense climate and spoiled part of the experience. Tip: The place is imperative, but require clarity from your agency about the schedules and the actual walking time.
