Had Sofyan and he was absolutely amazing! We did the trip in our own time and I was never rushed when I wanted to take photos or stop and get off the car to have a look at the views. He was also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in understanding the local community. On top of all that, everything was very well organised.
The communication from our guide was great. The wonderful Ismail arrived on time at exactly where we agreed. Because we were moving riads, we had all of our luggage in tow. Ismail called ahead to the new riad to make arrangements for pick up. Ismail was full of energy & interesting facts about where we were going. He has a great way of imparting information and a great sense of humor. Come with an appetite. Our first stop was Dar Zite (I believe that's what it was called), a women's collective that produces argan oil products. Amazing bread made right there with different dips using argan oil, as well as beautiful tea. We bought some products, but felt no pressure to do so. There were many stops for photos & to stretch our legs before we got to the most incredible part of the day. Ismail introduced us to Ali, who took us on a hike up to the Berber family who greeted us with warm hospitality and way too much food. We sat on a rooftop, overlooking the village, a delightful breeze blowing and took in the magnificence of the setting. I will stop there and just say that this was definitely an activity we will talk about for a while and if you can request Ismail, do so!
The private, 6 people trip across all 5 valleys was exceptional. People.just need to be aware of the 'in the .middle of the trip trek' obviously the mountains are less hot than the city and amazingly beautiful but be prepared for a hike. My wife stayed with vehicle that picked us up an hour later. I personally do not mind walking in the heat but others did and once you set off there's no turning back. However, if you wish to see how the Berber live then it's really worth it. Food was the best we'd had with the traditional tagine. Ismil was a very good guide (he likes to talk) but overly entertaining throughout the trip. If I ever went back this is the one trip I would rebook.
This tour was such a life changing experience for my family and for myself- our guide being not only deeply engaging but extremely knowledgeable. The environment he created was very welcoming, and we cannot recommend him enough. Yassin was our tour guide when we got to Sidi Faras on our hike, and then Khadija and Aisha cooked us a fabulous meal in their home. Everyone was so warm, the food was incredible, ultimately making this experience of the valleys in the Atlas Mountains accompanied by both local Amazigh and Arab Moroccans a definitive no skip activity if you are looking to immerse yourself in the culture and feel very accompanied whilst doing it.
We were collected promptly by Ismail and were pleased with the early start ‘you snooze you loose!’ as Ismail would say. This meant that everywhere was relaxed and calm. Ismail greeted us with a flurry of enthusiastic excitement. He maintained this energetic, informative and highly amusing demeanour throughout the trip. He was quick witted and well read. He shared a wealth of knowledge about the Atlas Mountains and also the culture and language. In addition he included facts about other countries- keeping us highly entertained. The breakfast suited us perfectly. There was no pressure to buy from the cooperative but the thick luxurious honey spoke for itself. I absolutely loved the glimpse of the life of a Berber. I have forgotten our hiking guides name but he was superb. He asked our preferences on the route and ensured we were all okay continuously. I was grateful for the preparation to take sun cream, have appropriate foot wear and ideally bring a hat. The food given at the local Berber home was delicious and plentiful. I was amazed by how much our daughters consumed and I am sure they surprised themselves. We have experienced other tagines but this was a real delight, made all the better by the splendid back drop of the Atlas Mountains.
Mohamed, driver/tour guide is excellent, speaks fluent english. Very knowledgeable in history and general information. Interestingly, he is well loved in the villages and kids wait for him along the road for his brotherly love ( giving out candies and kind words ). Not to be missed when in Marrakech. Ps: for future tourists, good idea to bring some candies/small school supplies to hand out to kids. The villages were hit by earthquake in 2023 and has not recovered from it.
Abdullah was brilliant - friendly, informative, fun - made it a perfect trip - food was amazing 100% recommend
We had a very special time in the beautiful Atlas mountains with our wonderful and knowledgeable guide Ismael. He was very friendly and kind. Visiting the Argan Oil coop was special and also we had a spectacular hike through some authentic Berber villages where khadijah, an amazing chef, along with her sister fatiha, and ali, cooked us a delicious traditional meal where we enjoyed views of the gorgeous mountains on an upper terrace deck. So special! One recommendation to anyone else going on this is to buy some candies and little toys or school supplies for the local village children you may encounter along the way! They have simple lives and would truly value this. A simple easy way to give back. Everyone was so kind. ❤️
Beautiful trip, gives a good impression of the Moroccan landscape.
What a fantastic tour! Small group of 7 of us led by Mohamad who was a fabulous guide. Got to learn a lot about the Berber way of life, see how they lived first hand and the lunch was fantastic. Atlas mountains were stunning and seeing all 5 valleys and having them explained was fantastic. All in, absolutely recommended.
