Reiseverlauf

We truly appreciate your recommendation—“Do it!!” says it all! Hope to have you back for more unforgettable adventures in Guatemala!
What a wonderful experience! Nice communication from Pedro before the tour. Elli was my guide and Carlos was the driver. Safe and friendly driving from Carlos! Elli was so sweet and a great guide! Knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was well organized. Great stops along the way. The views from the lake, boat ride and demonstrations were great! I highly recommend this tour! Thank you, Guat2do!
Hi Kinna, thank you so much for your wonderful review and for recommending our Lake Atitlán and San Juan tour! We’re very happy to hear that the communication with Pedro, the guidance from Elli, and Carlos’ safe driving all contributed to such a great experience. It’s great to know you enjoyed the organization of the tour, the stops along the way, the cultural demonstrations, and of course the beautiful views of the lake and the boat ride. Your kind words mean a lot to our team, and we truly appreciate you choosing Guat2do. We would love to welcome you again on another adventure in Guatemala in the future.
I gave this 3 stars because of the views. The itinerary states, "we will participate in 3 cultural workshops: One of the natural dyeing of textiles, one of the medicinal herbs used by the indigenous people, and a chocolate workshop." We only did the first one. Also I requested an English speaking guide in my booking. 5% of the tour was in English. I did reach out to the company via What's app, however nothing changed. I also stated how we didn't follow the itinerary according to the description. The guide truly did what he wanted to do. I basically paid $300 for a bus ride. We were supposed to also spend time in Panajachel, " We will visit Santander Street. It is the town's main street, with many textiles and other souvenir shops. It is also the street where more restaurants and hotels are located. Finally, we will go to the dock, we will enjoy the beautiful views of the lake and its volcanoes.". When we arrived we got off the bus and went directly to the dock. I'm assuming that although I paid based on the description, because the guide had his own itinerary or maybe because the driver needed to eat breakfast and we spent and hour or more at some restaurant, that's why I didn't get to do all that I paid for.
Hi Stephanie, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We’re happy to hear that you found the views of Lake Atitlán amazing, as they are truly one of the highlights of the region. That said, we sincerely regret that your experience did not fully align with the itinerary described and that the language expectation was not met. We understand your frustration regarding the cultural workshops, the limited time in Panajachel, and the lack of consistent English guidance, especially after clearly requesting an English-speaking guide and reaching out during the tour. This is not the experience we aim to provide, and your comments are very important to us as they help us review guide coordination, itinerary compliance, and communication standards. Thank you for taking the time to explain your concerns so clearly, and we truly hope to have the opportunity in the future to offer you an experience that fully reflects the value and quality we strive to deliver.
It was wonderful- I was picked up on time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable. I felt safe throughout the experience. It was so scenic! Beautiful. The driver was excellent!
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear that everything—from the punctual pickup to the scenic boat ride—made your experience memorable. It’s great to know you felt safe and well taken care of by both your guide and driver. Lake Atitlán truly is a breathtaking place, and we’re glad you enjoyed it to the fullest. We’d be happy to welcome you back anytime for more adventures in Guatemala!
A very long walk all day, where you visit 3 villages around Lake Atitlan. Departure time 5:45, meet you at your hotel, in our case they arrived and left us, did not wait 10 minutes or warn and left. We had to wait more than an hour for a private to pick us up at a Very comfortable bus. Mr. Carlos resolved quickly so that we would not lose the tour. It is more than 2 hours to arrive in the middle of curves, climbs and descents. I recommend drinking something for dizziness, The scenery is spectacular, you see volcanoes and lake. We visit San Pedro, San Juan and Santiago, the most picturesque clean and tidy is San Juan. There's the textile and honey factory. Santiago is the largest but lacks order and cleanliness, from here we liked a viewpoint with a beautiful view and Tuk tuk taxis. The return was chaotic, we were sent an awkward and tight small bus for 3 hours of return. They just put the air conditioner on for a while and then turned it off. We arrived more tired of the journey than of the same tour. Be sure to order comfortable transportation. The village tour was good
The Atitlan Lake tour is a cultural and adventure experience because you sail in the middle of the lake to move between different villages. Although I had some complications the average managers always gave the best solutions and exceeded my expectations on many levels. I will definitely choose them for future trips.
This experience was amazing and I truly enjoyed myself as a solo traveler from the States! Ruben is an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable! You can ask him anything and he’ll have an answer for you! We did a lot during the tour and learned a lot from the textiles to the chocolate factory!
Thank you so much, Jennifer, for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to know you enjoyed your time at Lake Atitlán and felt so comfortable traveling solo with us. ✨ It’s wonderful to hear that Rubén made your day both fun and informative—he truly loves sharing the history and traditions of Guatemala. From textiles to chocolate, Lake Atitlán is full of treasures, and we’re glad you got to experience them all. We’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime for more adventures!
The tour company said they would pick me up at 7am but didn’t show up until 8am. Although the tour was good, they take you to all the tourist traps along the way. This isn’t really catered to solo women exclusively
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Bhauna. We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the tour overall, but we truly regret the delay in your pickup and the inconvenience it caused—we know how important punctuality is, especially for early tours. We also appreciate your perspective regarding the experience as a solo traveler. While the Lake Atitlán tour is designed for a mix of travelers, your comments help us better understand how we can improve and set clearer expectations for future guests. We’re glad you still found the day enjoyable and hope we can welcome you again on another adventure, with a smoother start from the very beginning.
This was a fun day! We got to visit 3 towns along Lake Atitlan; breakfast was included, which was nice. We had to pay for lunch, but it was worth it. The guides were very helpful, happy to take photos, and answered all my questions. I withdrew one star because the communication regarding transportation to the lake was not clear. I had to take a taxi to a closer hotel super early in the morning, because apparently my hotel was not within their pickup range. It's also a shared shuttle to get to the lake, meaning that the minibus will be packed and the people you ride with aren't necessarily all going to go around the lake with you (once we arrived, we were split into smaller groups with different people of about 8-9 total). That's good to know so pack light, because you won't be able to leave your belongings in the bus, since you will be changing bus at the end. You also ride back with whichever driver is available at the end of the tour. The ride is very long, try to get a window seat so you can take in the stunning views. Also bring a snack or two and some water! I also really loved the different activities that we did in each Mayan town. We got to visit an apiary (don't worry, those bees do not bite!) and see a textiles demonstration at a women's coop. We also had the chance to shop around for Mayan textiles at the end, which was really nice.
Thank you so much, Lauren, for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cultural activities around Lake Atitlán, from visiting the women’s cooperative to the apiary and textile demonstrations. Those experiences bring the magic of the region to life. We also appreciate your kind words about our guides and the way they helped capture special moments for you. We’re sorry to hear about the confusion regarding the transportation and pickup. Since Lake Atitlán is a shared tour, there are some logistical details — like limited pickup zones and group splits — that can feel a bit less personal compared to our private experiences, but your feedback helps us improve how we communicate this beforehand so it’s clearer for future travelers. We’re thrilled that, despite the long day, you found the stunning views, authentic activities, and cultural immersion worth it. We’d love to welcome you back one day — perhaps for a private experience so you can enjoy the same magic with a bit more comfort and flexibility.
Late writing this review, went in July 2022, not July 2025. But the tour was outstanding and I just forgot to come back here to tell. The drive up to the lake was through some scenic areas, very enjoyable by itself. Took the boat across the lake to the village. Village was very touristy, but the vendors were well prepared and informative about their crafts. Please note that the main street is uphill all the way and it is STEEP, so be prepared for the climb. Bought some paintings from local artists, some artisan chocolate, and some hand-made place mats for my table that I'm using now. After coming back across the lake in the boat (and forgetting my hat in the boat), we had lunch in a nice restaurant overlooking the lake. The staff was very nice. A great way to spend a day, see some fantastic views of the local area, and find some handicraft souvenirs.
Thank you so much for coming back to leave this lovely review—even after some time has passed! We’re thrilled to hear the Lake Atitlán tour left such a lasting impression on you. The scenic drive, boat ride, artisan village, and the charming local crafts really do make it a memorable experience. We appreciate you highlighting the incline in the village—it’s definitely good advice for future travelers! And even though your hat stayed behind on the boat, we’re glad the rest of the day was filled with great finds, delicious food, and warm hospitality. We hope to welcome you back to Guatemala soon for another unforgettable adventure!
