Es wurde als Ersatz für einen anderen Markt gebaut, 1876 abgerissen und 1930 eröffnet. Im Zuge der zwischen 2010 und 2011 durchgeführten Sanierungsarbeiten an den Räumlichkeiten wurde der Innenbereich komplett umgestaltet.
Das Projekt einer modernen Festung zur Verteidigung dieses Abschnitts der portugiesischen Küste geht auf das 14. Jahrhundert zurück, als die Festung Santiago do Outão gebaut wurde, die den Flusseingang kontrollieren sollte.
Der Naturpark Arrábida ist ein biogenetisches Reservat auf der Halbinsel Setúbal, das die Gemeinden Palmela, Setúbal und Sesimbra umfasst, mit der höchsten Höhe im Pico do Formosinho (501 m Höhe) im Distrikt Setúbal in Portugal. Es erstreckt sich über 35 Kilometer.
Azeitão besteht aus den alten Gemeinden Azeitão (São Lourenço und São Simão) und trägt den Namen „de Azeitão“, dank der ausgedehnten Olivenhaine, die in arabischer Zeit diese Teile dominierten.
Das Schloss Palmela befindet sich im gleichnamigen Dorf, der gleichnamigen Gemeinde und Gemeinde im Bezirk Setúbal in Portugal. Von der Spitze des Bergfrieds eröffnet sich an klaren Tagen der Blick auf Lissabon.

After several days of exploring on our own, this was a perfect way to see some new areas while giving our legs a rest. Our guide, Diogo, truly went above and beyond to make this a memorable day for us (including a wine/art tour and finding a handmade tile shop on our way!). He was a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area, and even tied in the history of the places we visited on the tour with the places we’d already seen to really understand how it all connected! Truly a wonderful day - our only regret was that we booked this near the end of our vacation and couldn’t have him take us on another excursion.

Had a fantastic time on this tour, my parents were super impressed with how knowledgeable our guide was with the area and all the sites were incredible. Would definitely recommend if you have limited time in Setubal to hit the main spots!

Diogo Sampaio gave us the best tour of Setubal 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves to learn the history of on area or have convenient door to door tours of an unfamiliar area. We will be back for another tour very soon!
