Antike Mosaikwerkstatt in Rom

Wonderful experience making mosaics with Giulia. I came with my SIL who only speaks Hungarian and my two adult sons, one of whom is autistic and noticeably different. I mention this only because Giulia gave him extra instruction and encouragement without this being shared with her. I used Google translate to translate Giulia’s instructions into Hungarian for my SIL so she could follow along. The consensus from the group was that everyone had a wonderful time and learned something as well. My SIL said this activity was her favorite of all we did in Rome. Studio Cassio also let me add my SIL and other son the day before even though the workshop was technically full (could not purchase more tickets). We are all happy to have our personalized souvenirs from Rome!

Went with my partner to a mosaic workshop for a more unique and crafty experience on our trip to Rome and thought it was amazing! Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and showed their expertise as they walked through the Roman methods for making mosaics. They were also so helpful at guiding us when we were lost or unsure on how to make the design work. Really pleased with the outcome and highly recommend it as part of any trip to Rome.

Recently visited as part of our second trip to Rome and found the mosaic workshop to be everything we'd hoped it would be. The workshop was around 2.5hr to 3hrs and had our hosts walk us through the types of mosaic making and the technique we'd be adopting before getting started. We then picked out a template to make (I think one couple had a specific request which was accommodated too) and used a number of different coloured tiles to make our mosaic. The hosts were hands on, welcoming and very helpful throughout so big thanks to them 🙂 The other groups in the room also gave it a great atmosphere. Highly recommend as something to do that's quite unique to Rome and crafty.

I found the mosaic workshop surprisingly calming and absorbing. It encouraged me to slow down and really consider the shapes, height, and intricate patterns as the mosaic gradually came together. Alexander and Giulia were wonderful guides, gently instructing and assisting throughout the process while allowing plenty of space for creativity. I also really enjoyed learning about the long and fascinating history of mosaics — it added another dimension to the experience. A relaxing, creative, and very interesting workshop that I would highly recommend.

A lovely few hours trying something new and learning about the Roman history of mosaics. Highly recommend if you like crafts! Giulia is so knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming.

Julia took time and energy to inform us of the history of mosaics and showed us samples both ancient and modern. She and the other workers in shop helped us with our little projects and even offered us something to drink. This was the best activity we have been to. 10 stars all around.

I’ve eyed this workshop on past trips to Rome, and I’m happy to have now taken the workshop. A nice break from the afternoon heat, Alex and co. led an engaging session that touched on the history of mosaic craftsmanship and their studio’s contributions. What better souvenir to bring home than a marble mosaic you personally made? I would recommend this to anyone going to Rome, whether the first or the next time, as having tried to make the art myself gives a new appreciation to its mastery.

This was a fun and educational experience, also something a bit different than the usual. Easy to find, very near train station.

Awesome idea for something to do that’s not touring churches or ruins. Great family experience. My daughter and I did the class today. It’s small and intimate so you can chat with the teachers and other participants. We love the pieces we made and will definitely try another class when we return to Rome.

This was such a fun and unique experience! The class gave me a great appreciation for the time, skill, and patience that goes into creating mosaic art. It was definitely challenging, but that’s what made it so rewarding. Giulia and Alex were both incredibly kind, patient, and helpful throughout the class. As a solo traveler, I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something creative to do. It’s also a great way to ease the anxiety that can sometimes come with traveling alone. I was pretty happy with my first mosaic, and I already know I’ll be booking this class again the next time I’m in Rome!
