Sehen Sie das alte Khmer-Reich, Angkor Thom, und sein berühmtestes Tor, das als Tonle Om-Tor (Südtor) bekannt ist. Anschließend besuchen Sie weitere wunderschöne Tempel in der Hauptstadt Angkor Thom.
Bewundern Sie die weisen und lächelnden Gesichter im Bayon-Tempel. Es handelt sich um einen reich verzierten kambodschanischen Tempel im Angkor Park in Siem Reap, Kambodscha. Er wurde Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts als Staatstempel des Mahayana-Buddhismus erbaut.
Baphuon ist der hinduistische Gott Shiva und wurde Mitte des 11. Jahrhunderts errichtet. Es ist ein dreistufiger Tempelberg.
Die Terrasse der Elefanten ist Teil der Stadtmauer von Angkor Thom und wurde von Angkors König Jayavarman VII. Als Plattform genutzt, um seine siegreiche zurückkehrende Armee zu sehen.
Anschließend fahren wir zum Ta-Prohm-Tempel, der in seinem ursprünglichen Zustand belassen wurde und teilweise mit Bäumen und riesigen Wurzeln bewachsen ist. Es diente auch als Kulisse für den Film Tomb Raider mit Angelina Jolie.
Genießen Sie Ihr Mittagessen in einem lokalen Restaurant, das von einem örtlichen Chef zubereitet wird, und besuchen Sie anschließend das authentischste Dorf „Phum Preah Dak“, wo Sie lernen können, wie die Einheimischen Palmkuchen und Palmzucker herstellen.
Am Nachmittag beginnen Sie mit der Besichtigung des faszinierenden Angkor Wat, dem größten heiligen Gebäude der Welt und einer Ikone der Khmer-Zivilisation. Mr Makara made this tour more entertaining. He has lot of knowledge which most of guides do but presenting the information in a way where you remember the information longer makes the difference. He was open to any adjustment to plan instead of sticking to predefined plan in the tour.

I took the train from the airport to the hotel. At the airport, they would wait with placards with my name on them. He served me oshibori and drinks and was very kind. It was a conversation in English even for Japanese, but I was able to ride with peace of mind.

I had a great trip with our guide Mony and driver Mr Sothea. After every temple we were provided with ice cold water and a “Cambodian spring roll” (a cold towel, not edible unfortunately). Lunch and a sweet treat of a lava cake was included so this was excellent value for money! We saw so much and learnt a lot about the Buddhist and Hindu history of Angkor with Mony pointing out the best photo spots and always offering to take photos of us. We were a small group, just 3 people, as it is low season which meant we got extra time for questions. Can’t recommend this tour enough and in fact the day after I already recommended it to another solo traveller I met!

Great experience with Makara! He was very funny and insightful as he took us along for the 9 - 6:30 PM tour around the temples. The bus was very generous with waters, towels, wifi, charging, and umbrellas. Makara allowed us to go at our own pace and take stops whenever, included a provided lunch break. Overall, we got to see some incredible temples and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!

Where to start? Maybe with the obvious: we saw Angkor Watt, Ta Prohm, and Angkor Thom, we tried palm cakes and saw how they were made and had lovely lunch! But all of this is nothing compared to the excellent guide and driver we had. Veasna (our guide) spoke perfect English, he was knowledgeable, professional, kind, funny, interested and interesting and overall simply the best guide I have ever had on my travels. This was matched by our very lovely, considerate driver, Mr Sothea, who had cool towels ready for us every time we got back onto the bus, cold water and the air condition running. This was such an amazing experience, especially as this was our first time in Cambodia and Veasna told us so much about its history and people. A huge thanks!

Our tour guide August was incredibly welcoming, accompanying us throughout the trip and patiently explaining the history and historical figures. He even helped us up on the steps and took photos for us. He kindly offered us iced water and cold towels every time we boarded the bus. It was a truly enjoyable trip.
