Das Kolosseum, ursprünglich als Amphitheatrum Flavium oder einfach nur als Amphitheatrum bekannt, ist das größte Amphitheater der Welt, das sich im Zentrum von Rom befindet. Hier steht ein Denkmal, das berühmter ist als jedes andere menschliche Werk. Mit diesen Worten wird das Kolosseum beschrieben, das ab dem Zeitpunkt seiner Entstehung zu einem Symbol der Stadt Rom wurde.
Es ist eine archäologische Ausgrabungsstätte in Rom. Sie besteht aus Schichten von Überresten dieser Gebäude und Denkmäler heterogener Epochen, die für einen Großteil der antiken Geschichte Roms das politische, rechtliche, religiöse und wirtschaftliche Zentrum der Stadt Rom sowie das neuralgische Zentrum der gesamten römischen Zivilisation darstellte.
Der Palatin ist einer der sieben Hügel Roms, der sich zwischen Velabro und dem Forum Romanum befindet und zu den ältesten Teilen der Stadt zählt. Der Ort ist jetzt ein großes Freiluftmuseum und kann tagsüber besucht werden

We booked with Carrani Tours as recommended by the hotel we stayed at in Rome. Took an Uber to the meeting point which was in front of the Colosseum. Our guide, Ale D. was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and had so much passion and made it very informative and fun for our whole group. We booked the 8:15 tour and were among the first groups in and was able to take in the amazing views and pictures. Ale D. made the scorching hot day bearable and kept everyone, including my young kids, engaged. Definitely recommend booking with Carrani Tours and ask for Ale D.!

We traveled with a family of 4 including 2 teenage girls. We very much enjoyed the tour of the colosseum. Our guide, #11, Alexandra was very kind and knowledgeable. 10/10 recommend her Pro’s: starting on the second floor of the colosseum was great. The view when you walk in is breathtaking. It was nice to learn about the history of the colosseum, etc Really enjoyed all of our time at the colosseum Cons: Def should have a stop at the beginning outside of the colosseum for photos. As a whole, the entire tour after the colosseum was unneeded. In fact, 2 people from our small tour actually left. We should have done the same. We thought we signed up for only a colosseum tour, not all the other stuff. Not to mention we were dropped in the middle of a maze where the exit seemed impossible to find. We also would have enjoyed being able to visit a gift shop at the colosseum. I would not recommend this tour to a friend.
Dorothy was a great guide and even though it was an exceptionally hot day, she found places for us to stop in the shade. Definitely recommend this tour!
