Das Morrinho-Projekt, das dauerhaft im Rio Art Museum (MAR) ausgestellt ist, ist eine faszinierende Installation, die das stereotype Bild brasilianischer Favelas in Frage stellt. Das im MAR permanent ausgestellte Modell reproduziert detailliert die Straßen, Bewohner und das tägliche Leben der Favela Pereira da Silva und zeigt den kulturellen und sozialen Reichtum dieses Ortes. Der Besuch des Projeto Morrinho no MAR ist eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, die Favela aus einem neuen Blickwinkel zu betrachten und die Kreativität, Gemeinschaft und Widerstandsfähigkeit hervorzuheben, die diese Räume ausmachen. Es ist eine Erfahrung, die die Komplexität und Schönheit des Lebens in den Favelas weit über die Stereotypen der Gewalt hinaus offenbart. Für diejenigen, die die Realität und Kultur von Rio de Janeiro besser verstehen möchten, ist Morrinho ein unverzichtbarer Stopp.
Wir werden die Kunst von Eduardo Kobra, dem größten Graffiti-Wandgemälde der Welt, betrachten und Aspekte ethnischer Volksgruppen, sehr alter Kulturen, die direkt und indirekt Teil der Geschichte Brasiliens sind, bewundern.
Wir besuchen die archäologische Stätte, die permanente Ausstellung der dort entdeckten Knochen von Afrikanern, und wir werden überrascht sein, welche Auswirkungen diese auf das Verständnis der Sklavenzeit in Brasilien haben werden.
Wir besuchen die historische Stätte des Piers von Valongo und die Region, die als Little Africa bekannt ist, und lernen ihre Geschichte und Traditionen sowie ihre Bedeutung für die Geschichte der Menschheit kennen.
Wir werden die verbleibende Gemeinschaft von Quilombo Pedra do Sal treffen, einem Ort des kulturellen Widerstands, der für das Überleben der Afro-Nachkommen und die Bewahrung ihres Erbes von grundlegender Bedeutung ist. Dort feiern die Cariocas stolz ihr reiches afro-brasilianisches Erbe mit wöchentlichen Samba-Sessions im Freien.
Eintauchen in das reiche afrikanische Kulturerbe in Rio - Hervorhebung der Gastronomie mit Verkostung der typischen Gerichte der afro-brasilianischen und der Yoruba-Küche, die in der täglichen Praxis der Religionen afrikanischer Herkunft sehr häufig sind. Musikalität - ein Percussion-Workshop mit einem Instrukteur und Schlagzeuger aus dem afrikanischen Kontinent - konzentrieren wir uns auf diese Kultur, die die Menschen bis heute beeinflusst.

What a wonderful tour for us Australians to learn more about the African history of Brazil. Isabel tailored tour to suit us walking thru various neighbourhoods explaining their relevance. Lunch was lovely highly recommend!
This was a great tour for folks who want to know what it’s like to be Black in Brazil and to get a diasporic perspective. Jaíse is clearly very passionate about all of the above and this tour is a great testament to this. I believe she’s gonna be putting together a local R&B tour soon and i can’t wait to come back and check that out someday! So many landmarks and historical events are covered here - phenomenal!

The whole tour was very enlightening and packed with REAL historical facts about Brazil and the first enslaved people who were brought here to work under harsh conditions but became the heart beat of Afro Brazilian culture that permeates throughout this country and a true reflection of Brazil’s backbone. As a black man it was great to see the struggles our ancestors suffered but through resilience and strength along with love grew a Culture unmatched in this region. A must do for all African(Hebrew) descendants.

We experienced alot on our trip to Brazil. We spent some time in Rio then traveled to Paraty. This was by far one of our most memorable experiences! This was a very good tour! Isabella does an outstanding job and really knows her history of the Afro-Brazilians. Unfortunately the museums were closed the day we did the tour since it was Christmas Eve. Be mindful of that of visiting on holidays or guests should be given a heads up so they have a chance to change the dates if possible. With that said, I would still highly recommend this tour in Little Africa. It’s a must do especially for Black Americans visiting Rio!
