Reiseverlauf

Such an amazing experience!! Both myself & my nearly 16yr old son, LOVED this experience!!! Deer Canyon, our guide, John & one of the sisters who run this canyon exclusively... are TOP NOTCH from start to finish!!! I was a bit worried that it wouldn't keep my teenage son engaged and enlightened, but I couldn't have been more wrong… he was just as captivated and swept up in the awe-inspiring beauty and history of this hidden gem as much as I was, if not more! John, our tour guide, was beyond knowledgeable about this particular slot canyon & it's history… giving wonderful & interesting antidotes throughout our journey. There was, literally, no question he could not answer about this gorgeous slot canyon, known as Deer Canyon, plus, we got the feeling that one could ask John nearly any question (from geographical/technical to ‘the meaning of life’ itself ;) that he could not answer!! A true guide in every sense of the word!! He took us through at the perfect pace, allowing us to take as many pictures, and ask as many questions, as we felt inclined to. A true gem amongst this amazingly gorgeous gem, known as Deer Canyon!!!!! Don’t hesitate for a second surrounding the chance to see & experience this true natural wonder… truly!!!
We had an amazing experience. Our guide, Wally, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He expertly guided us through the canyon, telling us the history and geology of the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a wonderful slot canyon adventure!
Thank you for the kind words. We're pleased that you enjoyed your tour.
Great canyon, good adventure- v less crowd. Guide was alright, should have explained history. I have seen really great reels of guide explaining canyons and history and was expecting the same. Although he gave time for photos and did click for us so overall experience was good. This was my first time so dint knew about different canyons- i would suggest to do research about different canyons. There are about five canyons as far as i know- deer canyon was little tight for getting good pictures and hence it was less crowded.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for choosing Deer Canyon for your first slot canyon adventure! We're glad you enjoyed the beauty of the canyon, appreciated the smaller crowds, and had plenty of opportunities to capture photos. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the historical and geological interpretation. We strive to provide an experience that combines the canyon's natural beauty with insights into Navajo culture, history, and the formation of the canyon, and we'll use your comments to continue improving our guide training. Deer Canyon does offer a different experience from some of the more well-known slot canyons. Its narrower passages and limited daily visitors create a more intimate and adventurous tour, which many guests appreciate for the peaceful atmosphere and exclusive access. Thank you again for your thoughtful review. We hope to welcome you back to explore more of Navajo Nation's incredible landscapes in the future!
Excellent! This was my first time in a slot canyon. I had heard so much about Antelope Canyon I needed to come see it for myself. Deer Canyon was further south in the Antelope valley but it was excellent. My guide Alex did a wonderful job. It was just the two of us and we had some great conversation and learned a lot about the canyons. Definitely recommend go do it!
The pictures you see are real! The Canyon is really that amazing! I had planned to do a slot Canyon tour for a while now. I didn’t think it would be as incredible as it was. The walk to the Canyon was not demanding at all, but the views were breathtaking! My guide,Teniya was very friendly and informative. She explained the tribal history of the lands and made the trip more enjoyable.
Better than lower and upper antelope, way less traffic, don’t feel like a business at all, we were the only group for that time slot, the experience was simply unforgettable!
The experience in the canyon was amazing. First, if this interests, you go in the spring or fall or early morning during the summer, anything above 80-ish degrees is gonna be extremely hot. My wife and I scheduled the tour for 2 in the afternoon (not realizing how hot it gets) however we finished all of our other tours early so we decided to go there and ask if they would fit us on an earlier tour and they did. Julie, our tour guide, was very pleasant and accommodating, it was slower that day and she gave us a private tour. She explained much of the native culture along the route to the canyon (the route takes about 25 minutes to get to the area where you descend to the bottom of the canyon). It’s only about a 5 minute, easy walk to the beginning of the slot of the canyon. I knew about panoramic photos where you can take vertically, but I didn’t think about it while we were in the canyon, Julie showed us the best way to take the panoramic photos, see some attached to this review (unfortunately the app on the phone will not let me select panoramic photos, so I put the best ones that I could that were taken in regular mode), she helped us get the right light angles; simply beautiful. I highly recommended this tour!
We had a wonderful time. Our guide was incredible. Just my granddaughter and myself plus our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Navaho Nation and the canyon. He took several photos and was super patient and professional answering our questions. I cannot say there is one thing we did not enjoy about this trip.
A very nice experience. Very friendly guide and very easy exchange. We had a great time.
Our guide Julie was very knowledgeable about the Navajo history and ways. She showed us what certain plants had medicinal qualities. She showed us what landmarks there were and the meanings. The canyons themselves were remarkable and stunning. I do recommend being in somewhat decent shape, since you need to climb up and down ladders/stairs and move throughout at times narrow passage ways. I do highly recommend this tour, not rushed at all.
