Sightseeing in Athen beginnt unter dem Hügel der Akropolis zu fahren. Auf dem historischen Hügel haben Sie die Möglichkeit, das Odeon des Herodes Atticus, den Tempel der Athena Nike, das monumentale Tor (Propylaea), das Erechtheum und natürlich den berühmten Parthenon, den Haupttempel der jungfräulichen Göttin Athena, zu sehen.
Das Propylaea ist der monumentale Eingang zum heiligen Bereich, der Athena, der Schutzgöttin der Stadt, gewidmet ist. Das vom Architekten Mnesicles aus pentelischem Marmor erbaute Design war avantgardistisch. Im Südwesten des Propylaea befindet sich auf einem Wall, der den Haupteingang der Akropolis schützt, der ionische Tempel von Apteros Nike.

Das Odeon des Herodes Atticus ist ein steinernes römisches Theatergebäude am Südwesthang der Akropolis von Athen in Griechenland. Das Gebäude wurde 161 n. Chr. Fertiggestellt und 1950 renoviert.
Nach der Akropolis fahren wir über Hadrians Bogen zum Zeustempel, dem größten Tempel der Antike, der dem König der Götter gewidmet ist.
Wir besuchen das Panathenaic Stadium, in dem 1896 die ersten modernen Olympischen Spiele stattfanden.
Anschließend fahren wir in das historische Zentrum der Stadt und den höchsten Hügel Athens, den Lycabettus-Hügel, hinauf, von dem aus Sie den besten Panoramablick auf die Stadt haben, vom Hügel der Akropolis bis zur Ägäis.

Wir werden die Wachablösung (Euzones) vor dem alten Palast, dem heutigen Parlamentsgebäude, über dem zentralen Platz von Athen sehen.
Der Syntagma-Platz ist der zentrale Platz von Athen. Der Platz ist nach der Verfassung benannt, die Otto, der erste König Griechenlands, nach einem volkstümlichen und militärischen Aufstand am 3. September 1843 gewähren musste.
Das Akademiegebäude ist einer von drei Teilen einer „architektonischen Trilogie“. Es wurde mit dem Verfassungsdekret vom 18. März 1926 als Akademie der Wissenschaften und bildenden Künste gegründet.
Die National- und Kapodistrian-Universität von Athen ist die größte staatliche Hochschule in Griechenland und eine der größten Universitäten in Europa. Die prächtige Athener Universität wurde vom dänischen Architekten Christian Hansen entworfen und 1864 fertiggestellt.
Die griechische Nationalbibliothek wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts als letzte der Architekturtrilogie von Athen erbaut, einer Gruppe von drei neoklassizistischen Gebäuden, zu denen auch die Akademie und die Universität gehören. Das Gebäude wurde von Theophil Hansen entworfen.

We were so lucky to have Andreas our guide. He is so full of energy and knowledge and stories. He brought everything to life. He took us to so many really cool places, guiding us on where to go and even stand to get the best pictures. I can’t recommend this tour and Andreas enough.

Our driver / guide Tolis was absolutely wonderful! Loads of insight into the sites and the sights of Athens. It was a beautiful tour through time - ancient monuments through to present day ceremonies and life. Olive Sea was excellent - helpful, responsive and efficient. We did two tours with them (this evening Acropolis as well as the Temple of Poseidon the next day). Both great. I took this photo a few hours after the tour, around midnight, with the full moon.

While traveling we tend to have a hard time choosing tours due to the size and ages of our family (2-71). We currently are in Athens and checked with our concierge for an evening tour of the acropolis and Olympic stadium which they didn’t have to offer. We prefer private tours to suite our needs with small children and a father with mobility issues. Today I googled for tours and found this one on viator it checked all of the boxes and was a very affordable price. The Mercedes van has a small table with drink holders and 14 seats. We met Yianis Pappas our tour guide who was welcoming, professional and very knowledgeable. He showed us around Athens we opted to not get out at some places as we were there yesterday but it was great knowing what we were actually taking pictures of and the stories behind the places. I would 1000% book with him again. Outside of watching the sunset at the acropolis my other favorite was seeing changing of the guards in front of the Presidents house. Learning bout their military reasons for their symbolic uniforms and every day Greek way of life. It was an excellent tour and would recommend Yianis P! -Kaitlyn
